I will NEVER floss with a carving knife again! Grapefruit! What a horrific and chilling second outing for Danny and Michael Philippou. Who knew a couple of YouTubers would establish themselves as masters of horror so quickly? I already can't wait to see what they do next.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It made my body physically hurt a couple of times (in a good way). The only reason it fell short is cause some parts I couldn't figure out why or what was happening. The undertones of grief and anguish within different characters really showed well too. The actors and actresses played their characters phenomenally. Overall, definitely a skin-crawling watch.

The second movie by RackaRacka is a good companion piece to Talk To Me. Like that movie, this one is filled with interesting and innovative camerawork, leading to some truly excellent cinematography. Some of the transitions are so smooth, you don't even realize what happened. It can also shock you with staggering brutality and disturbing sequences that punctuate the bleakness. The main difference between the two is the pacing. I think Talk To Me ratchets up fairly quickly and ends up feeling like a constant ride. Bring Her Back is more of a slow burn, with some of its first horror sequences occuring around the midpoint of the movie (opening aside). That's not necessarily a bad thing since this movie dials up the family drama leading to a more compelling cast of characters compared to their first movie. Bring Her Back also feels a lot more personal and intimate, an exploration of grief, versus being an attempt at making an allegory about larger thematic ideas. The acting is phenomenal across the board, with all 4 main characters all bringing fantastic emotional and physical range. It's honestly a very engaging and intense movie that forced me to look away and squeal at times, so in a lot of ways, it wholeheartedly succeeds at what it is trying to do. The main criticisms I can see from general audiences are that the ending can feel slightly unsatisfying. It's not a bad ending, it just feels slightly off and incomplete just in terms of pacing even though I think it resolves everything properly. Another criticism is that there are clearly rules related to the supernatural element in this movie, but the movie never explicitly explains them like in so many other horror movies (including Talk To Me). I had no issue understanding enough, but the movie never delves into the setup of how the supernatural worked or how it became connected to these specific events which might frustrate a few viewers. Also, with the title and the general setup of the movie, it isn't particularly hard to figure out what is going on and where the movie is headed. I think some might also find that last part a negative, but I think the inevitability really builds the tension and bleakness and makes the slow-burn work. Even if I suspect not everyone in my audience enjoyed this movie, I do think if you like your horror bleak, disturbing, intense, and filled with strong cinematography and performances (or you just enjoyed Talk To Me), you should watch this. Very excited to see what this duo does next.

Fantastic horror striking you down to the very core, incredibly acted, very visceral and not for the faint of heart. This film will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, it may force you to ask yourself what you would do for a loved one. Must watch, but we prepared for a very heavy film it will take an emotional toll but I think it was worth paying.

The Philippou brothers have definitively proven themselves as the must see horror directors of this decade. Talk To Me was an amazing debut and Bring Her Back is an incredible follow up. Creepy and bleak as all hell, this was a disturbing and hands down not feel good movie of the year. Cast was amazing but the obvious standout is Sally Hawkins. The bros knew what was up, you get mother fucking Sally Hawkins as a lead in your movie and you let her cook, and cook she did. The range of her performance throughout was mesmerizing, one second she's making you laugh the next your stressed and horrified. It's the same Oscar horror movie ignorance that robbed Toni Collette & Mia Goth that will no doubt rob Hawkings of the nomination her performance deserves. Hopefully the grim and unrelenting dread this movie induces doesn't keep people away, if you are a horror fan you are doing yourself a disservice not seeing this gem on the big screen. Highly Recommended! 👍👍 8.5/10

very frustrating somewhat boring and the tension all seemed contrived just waiting for the horror stuff to happen the brother sister protagonist pair had little to no agency, things just happen to them and they do basically nothing to help it making it difficult to care about them. I really feel as though there was a missed opportunity for a much better story to be told if all the time expanding the character of the young man was instead spent showing the backstory and motives of the evil mum, especially as the ending of the movie basically switched to her perspective anyway. the little spooky kid was cool

Not the sequel to Paddington I expected, but pretty good nonetheless.

Worthy of a re-watch to catch all the subtleties. Great acting, insane violence and worth your time
