5+5+ takes a personal and good humored look into the universe of contemporary art in Brazil. Taking a 1967 print by artist Carlos Vergara as its starting point, the film captures how this specific work participated in the personal histories of the various people who own it today.Having inherited a print from the series Five Problems, Five Illustrations (1967), the scriptwriter together with the director of the film, dig up its genealogy, investigate the context in which it was created and the impact its various copies have had on the lives of the people who have had them hanging in their homes through the years. Through touching interviews and abundant never before seen archival footage, the documentary paints a multifaceted picture of Brazilian society and its art scene in the late 1960s in light of the recent military coup and ensuing censorship
