- Callum2026年5月23日⭐⭐½ – 2012 – Loud, destructive, and oddly hollow. This is a disaster movie built entirely around the idea that the world was supposed to end in 2012 — which, as we all inconveniently discovered, didn’t exactly pan out. At the time, though, the scale of it all was impressive. The visual effects were huge, the destruction scenes were relentless, and the sound design absolutely carried its weight. You can tell this was made to overwhelm audiences audiovisually. That said, I’m very glad I watched it at home rather than in a cinema. Two and a half hours of non-stop collapsing landmarks probably would’ve exhausted me on the big screen. John Cusack is normally someone I enjoy watching, but here he never quite felt like… himself. Not bad exactly — just missing that relatable, grounded quality he usually brings. I never fully connected with the character the way I expected to, and that disconnect hurts a film that’s asking you to emotionally anchor yourself amidst total chaos. The acting overall is pretty uneven, and the premise for humanity’s survival feels extremely familiar. Instead of underground bunkers like Deep Impact, we get giant ships — but the underlying idea is basically the same. Disaster movies naturally overlap, but the better ones still find a way to feel fresh. This one mostly feels like a very expensive remix of ideas you’ve already seen done elsewhere. Still, if you want giant set pieces, collapsing cities, and the cinematic equivalent of smashing toy cars together as a kid, it absolutely delivers on that front. 🥃 A very large rum and coke — flashy, excessive, and a bit too much by the end of the night.
- SALVO GERMANY2026年3月1日2012 is cinematic chaos at full volume — and I mean that as a compliment. Directed by Roland Emmerich, this is destruction without apology. Cities collapse, the earth cracks open, entire civilizations fall apart — and somehow it never loses rhythm. It’s not subtle. It’s not minimalist. It’s maximalist spectacle executed with confidence. What I love about 2012 is its commitment. It doesn’t hesitate. It doesn’t slow down to look smart. It goes all in. As someone who lives by structure and intensity — in training, in music, in life — I respect that kind of full-send mentality. When the world is ending, this movie doesn’t jog. It sprints. Visually, it’s massive. The set pieces are still impressive, and the scale feels genuinely global. Emotionally? It keeps things simple: survival, family, instinct. Nothing overcomplicated — just forward motion. Is it realistic? Not really. Is it over the top? Absolutely. But that’s the point. When I want pure disaster energy, something that shakes the room like a peak-time drop in a DJ set, this is my go-to. Big risks. Big visuals. Big impact. The Disciplined Raver 🎧💪
- Terry Phan2026年2月26日Absolute action packed of a movie, it's great and just outstanding, some people may say that the character development and plot are weak and some people stay for the disasters but in me I find a great balance in between the 2. To set the record straight the first 40 minutes so are plot introductions and development saying stuff about Earth Crust Displacement Theory and getting to know the characters etc. but after all that's over the real disasters start to happen. I got to say it starts off very intense and the scene where the family attempts to escape will surprise you and guarantee that you'll be glued to the screen, this scene is if not one of the most highlighted scenes in the entire film. And after that there will be plenty of more to see, we also get some plot developments leading up to China but everything is laid out well and doesn't leave too much time between disasters and humans (not at the end). Well yeah all I gotta say that it's great that we have a disaster movie that is funded and made by big studios (Columbia, Sony) and not some cheap garbage that'll end up on Tubi or Freevee in a couple of weeks and will not even get a Blu-ray or DVD release.
- Blake Singleton2025年10月17日Bad but in the best way. 2012 isn’t a movie that takes itself seriously. It’s all about how ridiculous the director can make things. Even down to the cringy moments where a character says something like “It feels like something is always tearing us apart.” Then the floor cracks in two, literally separating them. Like, WUT? Hilarious. 9/10
