This was so surprising! I genuinely think this is some of Pixar’s most mature work to date & the creativity in the variety of art styles & the way they are incorporated into to the narrative.
Not what I expected at all but incredibly cathartic and beautiful in its own way. Megan Stalter is a complete star. Anyone who has been through a life changing breakup should watch this and cry.
Despite what people think, I really wanted to like this. I don’t think it’s a bad movie, but it is a really boring one to me. I wish I felt more connected to this family. I wish they seemed more connected to each other. I wish Sue Storm felt like a more complex depiction of motherhood. But it’s fine and it looks very good when the shot doesn’t require vfx.
This is one of the only modern rom coms I’ve seen that actually feels modern! Saw it at Sundance and was so excited for it to come out. I will happily accept another entry into the crazy girl film canon. Hilarious and fun.
People keep telling me I hated this movie. I didn’t. There’s so much I loved about this world and these characters. I think this film is fun, and earnest, and beautiful (not aesthetically unfortunately), but has a flawed and chaotic structure that doesn’t give its incredible characters enough room to totally flourish. The interview scene with Lois & Superman is, however, one of the most delightful things I’ve ever seen and Mr. Terrific is my hero. Is this movie a big mess of ugly cgi, bloated with too many half baked ideas? In my opinion, absolutely it is. Is it also an absolutely awesome time at the movies with characters I am completely invested in? Also yes.
I don’t know if I’ll ever recover from the preemptive cancelation of this show. It was incredibly daunting to take on such a beloved classic film, but this series completely met the challenge, creating something new, with even more depth & sincerity. This show was so meaningful to me in ways that are hard to verbalize. Even if it’s not enough, the little we got here is something I’ll be forever grateful for.
