Where to Watch Widow's Bay
- EnochLight28 maj 2026I can’t say enough good things about Widows Bay. It feels like a perfect mix of Stephen King-style small-town horror and the quirky charm of Northern Exposure. The fictional New England island (clearly inspired by real places like Salem) is atmospheric and full of mystery, with every foggy dock and creaky house feeling like it’s hiding something terrible. What makes the show work so well is the balance between horror and comedy. It’s creepy enough to keep you uneasy, but the humor never feels forced or cheesy. The characters are eccentric but genuinely likable, and even the side characters feel memorable. Episode six, directed by Ti West, is especially fantastic—slow-burning period piece, unsettling, and beautifully shot. The penultimate episode and series finale are perfection - I loved the twist at the end! The show manages to be eerie, sometimes funny, and oddly heartfelt all at once. Bottom line: Widows Bay is one of the most refreshing horror-comedy series I’ve seen in years. Smart, atmospheric, and incredibly entertaining. Absolutely worth watching.

Isn't solid in the horror department isn't too funny. It's an average show with a healthy apple TV budget and a talented marketing team.

I loved every episode and it's been so nice to see this series find success when so many other great horror series fall into obscurity. Incredibly annoyed at the possible 3 year wait for season two, but that's modern tv for you.

Starts off mysterious and genuinely intriguing
Widow’s Bay starts surprisingly well. It’s beautifully filmed, atmospheric, eerie, and the mystery is genuinely intriguing. For a while, it feels like the show actually knows where it’s going. It doesn’t. Somewhere halfway through, the plot drives off a cliff and decides that complete nonsense is a substitute for clever writing. By the final episodes, logic has left the building and the story is basically running around unsupervised. Which is a shame, because visually the series is excellent. Great locations, strong atmosphere, polished cinematography - all wrapped around an increasingly ridiculous script. It starts like a mystery worth solving and ends like a joke with no punchline. CAIT’S PICK: Matthew Rhys, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
(Cait, Co-President) Matthew Rhys can do anything. It may just be an opinion, but it is one I think a lot of people share. That said, I’ve never seen him do what he does in Widow’s Bay. He walks a line of comedy, drama, and horror with ease – transitioning from one to another seeming ease. My only fear for him in this category is it being considered “comedy” when it is so much more than that. I also REALLY want to hear this acceptance speech.
