And this is all under the eye of a master Filmmaker, whether you remember this or not will be telling of your age… The one and only Brian De Palma  This movie is a tour de force. The plot is simple and based in reality: From 1920 to 1933, manufacturer sale and transportation of alcohol was illegal in America This is a law I understand, however, why marijuana was not legalized, and alcohol was is a deeper argument And a socially acceptable, as it is… 100 years ago, it was illegal to have a drink. Many fortunes were built because of this law, supply and demand And it got bloody once Al Capone entered the picture, played here by Robert De Niro… If I have to explain anything about this Actor, then you don’t watch a lot of movies. The FBI hired Elliot Ness to enforce this law and he went after Al Capone A bloodbath took place trying to bring Al Capone down This is a take on that story. Elliot Ness is played here with conviction by Kevin Costner. A wet behind the ears, law-enforcement agent that just did not know how to get it done So we enter Malone, played by Sean Connery in an Oscar winning performance… Not that the Oscars mean anything… But when they get it right, they get it right and it’s rewarding Elliot brings two other people in to his group of untouchables played by Charles, Martin Smith and Andy Garcia, who shines as George Stone Chicago Outfits all designed by Giorgio, Armani, The Production look and scope of the film is beautiful. And the story, never let up With Brian De Palma, you get blood, and here you get it in spades. But it’s the pacing and execution of this film that makes it timeless. In Brian De Palma’s words “ everything just worked out right and fell into place perfectly to make this film happen” Having directed Scarface, this was the polished version By a master Filmmaker, with masters of the craft behind the scenes… Making this film an unforgettable masterpiece Write down to the final line. Bravo

- Zokkiie14 juni 2026This is a really easy movie to get into. It has that classic crime thriller feel where everything just feels bigger — the music, the characters, the tension, all of it. The cast is what really makes it work though. Sean Connery is great, and Robert De Niro brings the kind of larger-than-life energy that makes every scene more interesting. It does have a few slower moments, and the story isn't exactly breaking new ground. But the style and performances carry it a long way. There are some genuinely memorable scenes, and the movie has a level of confidence that makes it feel like a proper old-school Hollywood production. A little cheesy in places, but still a very enjoyable watch.

I first saw this movie in the cinema when I was a kid, and some of the most powerful parts were stuck in my head forever, like Capone killing one of his own men with a baseball bat, or the baby stroller going down the stairs. Every actor does a good job, but Robert De Niro's version of Al Capone is awesome and stands out easily.

The music made you feel as if the military had won some conquest somewhere and we were once again America the great and beautiful. Triumph! Oh, and The Way We Were. No idea what that has to do with anything but it obviously meant something to the soundtrack composer. It was played over and over. I think he thought he had disguised it will enough but noooo... He did not. As for the plot... Yes, Al Capone existed. Yes, Elliott Ness captured him with tax evasion. But that's about were the truth and Hollywood parted ways.

Loosely based on the real life capers of Eliot Ness and Al Capone, Kevin Kostner creates a family-man character firmly rooted in doing the right thing who is teamed up with a grizzled, cynical, all-knowing real world cop played by Sean Connery. Deniro makes a frighteningly unpredictable Al Capone with an introductory scene that will make you recoil in fear and horror. Deniro is so convincing I have a feeling he would make the real Al Capone wet his pants. Some great lines, some tense albeit over-the-top scenes keep this movie moving to a conclusion we can all see coming, but it’s a fun ride.
