Where to Watch The Producers
- synthete−2 dPure escapist silliness. Mel Brooks is 50/50 for me. I (usually) hate Musicals. I love absurdity. Not idiotic—zany. There's a difference. This film is full absurdity, all the time, and the cast is superlative. Most of the songs and staged hyper-reality sections are actually worth interrupting the plot. (I would have cut Bialystock's final lament, but it's near the very end.) Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Uma Thurman, and Will Ferrell do not let up embodying razor sharp caricatures the entire time. A special nod to Gary Beach.

New York 1950. Max Bialystock är en teaterproducent det inte går så bra för. Hur han än försöker så lyckas han inte producera en succé. Han lever på att lura gamla rika på pengar när han möter den snälle tillbakadragne revisorn Leo Bloom. Leo nämner lite försynt att han kommit fram till att man faktiskt skulle kunna bli rikare på en pjäs som floppar än på en som blir en hit. Planen går ut på att få ihop ett antal miljoner dollar att finansiera pjäsen. Använd sen bara en liten, liten del av kapitalet för att producera en riktig flopp som är så katastrofalt dålig att den måste läggas ner redan efter premiären. Ta sen resten av pengarna och försvinn. Max och Leo går entusiastiska mot ett starkt misslyckande. Ett fiasko kan ju inte slå fel!
