En främling upptäcker resterna av en brevbärares jeep. Inuti hittar han en uniform och säck full av brev som inte blivit utdelade. Han tror att uniformen ska ge honom skydd hos byinvånarna, men upptäcker istället att säcken han hittat är full av brev som påminner folk om hur livet var innan kriget. En ny patriotism föds hos människorna och brevbäraren (spelad av Kevin Costner) blir snart den naturlige ledaren för ett uppror mot rövarbanden...

The problem is that some scenes are kind of odd and pretentious, thus hampering the experience. But besides that, the movie is ambitious and interesting. I'd say give this a spin if you find the premise intriguing, because it really does deliver on that.

- ርልዪረ8 februari 2025One of the best post apocalyptic movies i have ever seen! Kevin Costner does an excellent job of Starring and directing in this movie. His character develops from a loner, who avoids whats left of civilization. To an inspiring leader. The post apocalyptic backdrop of Oregon is visually stunning. Rather than being all doom and gloom like other films in this genre. The Postman brings a message of hope. It focuses on rebuilding society and how people can make a difference to one another. How important community is. Will Patton Makes an excellent and interesting bad guy. Chewing the scenery at every opportunity. James Newton Howard’s soundtrack adds great depth and emotion. Theres even a cameo appearance by Tom Petty as the mayor of Bridge City I really can’t understand how that when released in 1997 it was panned by critics. The only thing i can think of is that they had something against Costner. The Hollywood paid critics were gunning for him at the time. I also think the film was way ahead of its time. This is a clever uplifting and thoughtful movie. Its a shame because i think the critical response put people off at the box office. Give this movie a chance and give it the credit it deserves. You won’t be disappointed!
- TomVader16 december 2025The plot is the slightly overused "bad guy and gang attacks town, hero unexpectedly defeats bad guy", but the take is still unique. The movie runs incredibly long, and probably could have been broken up into 2 separate movies, which I suspect is part of the reason many people dislike this. While I wouldn't put this movie at the top of pretty much any list, I still rewatch it fairly regularly. It's a fun take on a dystopian future that I find entertaining, if for no other reason than that there are some quotable lines in here. My wife and I will regularly look at each other and say "AT LEAST YOU'RE EATING!".

- pipanni10 september 2025An accidental comedy by Kevin Costner that was trying to be an epic drama or something. It's bizarre that Costner can be such a wooden dummy in this movie and such an amazing actor in other films. Maybe he wasn't trying? Watch it for a laugh.
