Deciding retirement is pointless, septuagenarians Alan and Pat Braithwaite set out on the adventure of a lifetime, driving 5,600 km across India and back in a tiny Morgan three-wheeler sports car. Overcoming heart problems for Alan before he even gets there, they face inevitable breakdowns and discover the amazing generosity of spirit and the kindness of Indian people who get them back on the road again. To give their trip a bit more purpose, they attempt to raise £200,000 for a charity - but when they get to India, they find that the organisation they've chosen, called Goonj, is not a charity at all, and they discover a completely new dimension to humanitarian aid that they believe no-one in the West has yet to comprehend. In the end, Alan decides to embark on another adventure, to take Goonj's ideas to the world.
