Meh....not horrible, but not well done either. Most likely a movie to watch when you're stuck on an airplance for a LONG time and bored out of your mind.

Ben Foster and Cobie Smulders star as Josh and Rachel who leave their city home behind for a big house outside the city. But they very quickly find out that the sharp corner, on which their new home is located, happens to be a magnet for deadly car accidents. As Rachel vies for a safer and stable environment for their young son Max, Josh becomes obsessed with the deaths occurring in his front yard, at times inserting himself directly into the aftermath of the destruction. The film is a complex character drama about a family who’s lives take a hairpin turn. Ben Foster is really excellent as the passive (almost timid) Josh. Can’t remember a role quite like it from Foster. Really enjoyed it even if it’s a bit slow to get where it’s ultimately going.

Sharp corner had neither thrills nor comedy. Not one joke or thriller type moment. CGI on the car flip scene was poorly done and it took me out of the moment. Movie should have been called "therapy, divorce and real estate". I give it 1 tail wag for the acting and cinematography.

Other reviewers are right, this is a slow film with little in the way of thrills. Is that all we want from films? I felt the practicality of Josh's actions. I admire that he began to prepare for the events that continued to happen in his life. When confronted by an impending disaster, most people don't, they ignore the possibilities rather than mitigate or prep for them. Even when living in a place that suffers frequent forest fires or tornadoes, or is prone to flooding or earthquakes, or other natural or man-made disasters, too often people don't heed the warnings. That corner is a man-made disaster, even if the events are only happening to the victims, the victims' loved ones, and Josh's family on their front lawn. And people who experience disasters go through the same PTSD. Ben Foster plays that well, maybe so painfully it drives us away from the film. I feel this movie deserves more attention. Not from critics, but people. It's a good life lesson.

It's a long drive to get to that bend in the road... Neither thrilling or suspenseful. In search of the white picket fence in suburbia, they took a wrong turn. Solid acting but oh so slow. The runaway tire was the most exciting part of this movie, or was it the CPR dummy.. you be the judge.

Despite a promising setup, the film ultimately disappoints with a storyline that feels aimless and overstretched. The pacing drags, offering little in the way of development or excitement, and the cliffhanger ending fails to provide a satisfying payoff. I was left more frustrated than intrigued.

Hmm. Not much to say, Ben Foster is brilliant as usual but it feels like they didn't know what to do with the story. Which sounded interesting on paper, a missed opportunity in my opinion. Characters, such as the wife, acting quite unreasonable really, not realistic. I was expecting some dark thriller but sadly it never really emerged.
