I'm torn on this one. The doc does ask all the questions, show all sides but ends leaning towards the side of predator hunters are the ones in the wrong, including Chris Hansen. I understand that there is some collateral damage doing this sort of thing and I do feel bad for the 18 year old that wanted to meet up with a 15 year old (which in my eyes isn't so bad to get your life ruined over it) there are 30 or 50 children saved from a predator and that's worth it in my eyes. I also don't feel any sympathy for the DA assistant that got caught and took his own life. Good riddance. I liked this documentary but the conclusion pissed me off so 3.5/5 stars. Get skeeted in 4k

Decent watch but then later takes a weird turn. I really don’t even know what point the documentarian was trying to prove on this one

true crime obsession is a hallmark of a fascist society. Looking forward to the next level of self-reflection where America produces a series of true true crime documentaries examining how fucked the true crime obsession was

The title is fitting "Predators" plural Chris Hansen, King of them all and the copycats to follow. They enjoy humiliating people and making money doing it. This isn't about keeping children safe. One, there's just too many to capture. And two, a lot of these people got off, legally, because Chris Hansen is not a cop and doesn't have the right to interrogate people so what the alleged perp says to him is inadmissible. But they get punished in much worse ways Chris is a gazillionaire now. If he wanted to keep children safe Ill bet he has some resources to do that. But he'll go right on cashing checks and keeping the camera rolling. The heartbreaking one was really the 18 year old high school student who tried to get with a 15 year old. This is legal in many states. He didn't have jail time but his life was ruined. Couldn't finish school. Couldn't be left home alone, which is pretty much the only place he goes to now, if his 16 year old sister is home. I won't list his name here but if one were to Google it, that's the only thing you'd see was the episode. My only criticism is they were too easy on these sensationalists. Pedophilia is a serious issue. We shouldn't be grabbing a snack and getting entertained by it.

The human condition is never simple or straightforward. This documentary gives an interesting perspective. I'Il admit l've seen/read some things lately supporting his view. But, I found his perspective compelling and well presented.

Really liked this and it’s an interesting conversation around the ethics of the exploitative nature the To Catch a Predator series and the various offshoots. I wasn’t on board with the way it intentionally frames Chris Hansen with a predatory lens, particularly in the waning moments of the film. Is he exploiting a situation for monetary gain? Sure. But that’s not going to make me feel bad for the pervo’s they catch. (except perhaps the 18 y/o kid). Worth watching even if I don’t necessarily agree with the point I think the film is attempting to make.

Predators is an extremely well-done, if disconcerting film that raises difficult questions of a now two decade old form of entertainment. While difficult to feel much sympathy for the men who appear in chatrooms and doorsteps looking for sex with minors, Predators complicates the traditional morality play narrative somewhat by asking questions of the practice that the entertainers, YouTubers, and the public seem rather uninterested in. That it does so, in my view, effectively, is the mark of a good documentary.

Exploitation of child abusers, its a strange feeling you want to see them being caught and sent to jail but you also want to know how can they destroy the lifes of childeren?
