The idea behind this one is honestly pretty cool, but the execution just isn’t there. A giant meteor heading toward Earth should make for a tense disaster movie, but instead it feels surprisingly slow and spends too much time on forgettable side stories. The sense of danger never really kicks in, and the movie struggles to create the kind of excitement you’d expect. The cast is solid and there are some decent moments, but it’s hard to ignore how dated and underwhelming a lot of it feels. The effects have a certain old-school charm, but they don’t do much to make the disaster feel impressive. There are flashes of a better movie here, but overall it’s a pretty forgettable entry in the disaster genre.

Despite a strong cast and intriguing premise, Meteor suffers from sluggish pacing, dated effects, and uneven execution—earning its place as a lesser entry in the disaster genre.
