There was some in-your-face commentary on society, some metaphor and subtext, all while keeping the storyline simple without losing its ability to keep you guessing... And it stayed clear of those bullshit abstract endings that the "best" horror films today seem to insist on having.

I love the symbolism of it kind of for the first time that I can think of gay men are vilified by the community for being who they are and the evil that stocks them is them being apart. It’s not who they are. It’s not after them. It’s a curse. I supposedly religious person and as long as they stay together, they’re OK. It’s a little bit codependent, but it’s a great message and the body horror and the isolation and the other horror elements of the movie are spot on.

They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads”. Leviticus is a bold, unsettling film that confronts the intersection of religion, sexuality, and shame. It doesn’t attack faith; it attacks the misuse of faith to justify cruelty. Its portrayal of internalized homophobia is one of its strongest achievements, offering a raw look at how doctrine can become a prison when interpreted without empathy.
- spoppie182−6 dPaused it at one stage to see how much of the movie was left because nothing was happening other the two main actors releasing sexual tension or kissing, only to realise there was only 10 minutes left. There was no storyline what so ever, nothing made sense and it was far from scary. Definitely wont be watching again, wont be recommending and time was completely wasted.
- macaronz28 juli 2026Came for the Horror, Stayed for the Gay Romance 🏳️🌈 👻 A bit of a mixed bag for me. On the visual side, it's fantastic the aesthetic and overall vibe of the film are set up really well. The main issue is that it feels way more like a gay romance than an actual scary movie. In the film, a harsh religious community tries to "cleanse" two teenage boys (Naim and Ryan) of their feelings for each other. The supernatural entity that haunts them takes the literal form of each other the person they desire most. The message is that when a society forces you to suppress and feel immense shame about who you love, your own natural desires start to feel like a terrifying, inescapable monster tracking your every move. It’s basically a romance drama disguised in a spooky coat of paint. But hey, Joe Bird acts his heart out and carries the whole thing, so at least the performances didn't disappoint!
- williamw83430 juli 2026This movie really hits deep for those of us who fear just loving people. The movie is incredible, and it’s sort of a metaphor. The world around us doesn’t want queer people to love each other, so they hate, violate, threaten, and even hurt or kill us and the entity really just is that fear. I’m not sure if that was the intention behind the movie but it really does remind me of that simple, annoying fear.

They just being more and more tuend on. I thought this was goign to be a horro movie? Movies like this are why you don't trust IMDB ratings.
- Garrett Wilkins2 augusti 2026Leviticus wears its premise on its sleeve, building almost the entire story around the intersection of faith and sexuality. As a conservative Christian, I could have done without the film making sexuality such a dominant part of its characters' identities. I can appreciate that I wasn't the target audience, but I still found myself wishing they had been developed in ways that reached beyond that. My larger criticism, though, is that once the film establishes what it's about, it rarely expands beyond that foundation. I kept hoping it would reveal a perspective or idea I hadn't already anticipated, but it remained committed to the same conversation from beginning to end. To its credit, Leviticus doesn't overstay its welcome. The runtime is refreshingly lean, and the pacing keeps the story moving even when its ideas begin to feel repetitive. I understand why it has connected with viewers who see themselves reflected in it, and I don't question the sincerity behind what writer-director Adrian Chiarella set out to make. It just never gave me much reason to rethink my first impression. I finished the film feeling as though I'd spent most of my time exactly where I expected to be before I ever pressed play. For me, that was the biggest disappointment. I wasn't looking for the film to agree with my beliefs—I was simply hoping it would surprise me somewhere along the way, and it never really did.
- ricomckee2 augusti 2026Worth a watch for a unique and intresting horror film. Yes, it centers on youngmen who are gay. If this is an issue then keep scrolling back to the the T n A of the 80's. However, this was an interesting plot and storyline. Yet, as a horror film... it is missing some scares, blood, and a bit more storyline. Still, it is a good concept thatcould have been better.
