I did like how genuine the characters were. I mean they felt like your everyday Joes who are struggling in their relationships. It is a very realistic and relatable movie. The acting is great.

I really enjoyed this movie. The emotional journey feels honest and meaningful, especially in the way it explores personal growth and reconnecting with someone in a deeper way. I loved the message about finding your own happiness before sharing it with someone else. It’s a brilliant movie with great acting, an absolute must-watch.

Probably won’t ever marry; can’t relate Loving the cheap final scenes from 2025! Don’t think it landed the ending necessarily but I was singing the ending song all the way through the a cappella during the credits I hate Bradley for his role in this. It’s absolutely fine; it’s just that of course that’s the secondary character he really wanted to play in this script he helped write lol Watched at Warren Regal 21 with my mommy Added to The Cinema That Never Sleeps

Is This Thing On nails the slow-motion collapse of a long marriage—brutally honest and laugh-through-the-pain funny. Bradley Cooper is phenomenal: quiet, soulful, heartbreakingly restrained—he quietly owns the whole movie. Arnett and Dern crush the “love you but can’t stand you” vibe. Grown-up, dark, and real. Get out the popcorn and add butter or hot sauce.🍿🍿🍿🍿

“i realized that i was the one who was unhappy. i was unhappy in our marriage; i wasn’t unhappy with our marriage... i want to be unhappy with you… let’s be unhappy together.” stand-up comedy’s marriage story; it took me about half an hour to really hop on board with it but once i found investment i was happily along for the ride. there’s a complexity and tenderness that exists here that cooper somehow keeps restrained and doesn’t feel the need to overindulge in; he simply allows it to exist and that authenticity is what holds this all together. i think the two funniest things to me about this film are: 1) bradley cooper makes himself the funniest character in the film and it is so effortless; balls is an all timer name and side character 2) peyton manning jump scare i was not at all prepared lmao

Starts off a little slow, but glad I kept with it. Good story and Will Arnett nails it.

Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On? showcases his humanistic storytelling, delivering characters who feel genuinely lived-in, flawed, and deeply relatable. I was engrossed throughout, as the film captures everyday emotions and relationships in a way that feels honest, natural, and recognisable, making the story and its people feel completely real.

Honestly, I have no complaints really about this film other than the fact that times you know certain points of story kind of drug on for a little bit other than that. It was a really really fun time. I think Will Arnett and Bradley Cooper were both really really funny and their roles I mean seriously I mean Bradley Cooper name his own character balls what’s up with that but that was still funny. You know I think the great jokes great story Laura Dern was FANTASTIC and was top tier in her role Overall great time for the first theater go of the year.

Deftly captures the sensation of watching painfully mediocre standup comedy. Almost impressive how it never managed to even be accidentally funny.

A small film built around awkward humanity instead of chaos. It leans into that uncomfortable space of getting on stage, trying to be funny, and not always landing it. That tension becomes the engine of the film, and honestly, a big part of its charm. What really works is the tone. The film avoids big, over-the-top comedy and instead lives in the in-between moments. Nervous pauses, half-formed jokes, and that quiet dread of bombing in front of strangers. It feels less like watching someone succeed and more like watching someone try, which gives it a grounded, almost vulnerable edge. Underneath all of that is where the film quietly hits hardest. There’s a love story here that isn’t polished or idealized. It leans into the idea of being unhappy together, of two people trying to figure out if staying is worth it when things aren’t working the way they thought they would. It’s messy, a little sad, and surprisingly real. The stand-up moments weave into that emotional space, acting almost like therapy sessions out loud, where truth slips through the jokes. The film also touches on finding your voice, but it never feels forced. It comes through in small realizations, in failed attempts, and in the courage to keep going anyway. That authenticity carries more weight than any big payoff might have. Where it falls a bit short is in its overall impact. It never quite builds to a major emotional or comedic peak, and some scenes drift more than they land. But that softness feels intentional. This isn’t a film trying to knock you over. It’s one that sits with you, a little awkward, a little honest, and more human because of it. A quiet, awkwardly honest comedy about love, identity, and the fear of putting yourself out there. Is This Thing On? blends stand-up and emotional drama to explore what it means to stay, to struggle, and to find truth in the spaces between the laughs.
