- Manuel Frangis18 mars 2025I just watched Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, and I would give it a 2.5 out of 5 stars. This is one of those sequels that had potential but just does not hit the same as the previous movies. It still has some fun moments and colorful animation, but it is missing something important. And to be real, the biggest problem is that Adam Sandler is not in it. Sandler has always been a huge part of what made these movies work. His voice as Dracula was perfect, bringing just the right mix of charm, humor, and over the top energy. Without him, the movie already feels different before it even starts. Brian Hull steps in to voice Dracula, and while he does a decent impression, it is just not the same. That signature Sandler touch is missing, and it affects the whole vibe of the film. The story itself is fine but nothing special. This time around, Dracula and the gang go through a transformation that changes everything. The setup is interesting, and there are some funny moments, but the execution feels a little rushed. The jokes do not land as well as they did in the previous movies, and some scenes feel like they are trying too hard to recreate the humor that worked before. The energy just is not as strong. The animation is still great. Visually, Transformania keeps the same bright and playful style that made the other movies so fun to watch. The character designs are expressive, and the transformation effects are creative. Even though the humor does not always land, the visuals make sure there is always something fun happening on screen. The rest of the voice cast does a solid job. Andy Samberg returns as Johnny, bringing the same goofiness to the role. Selena Gomez as Mavis is good, but she does not get as much to do this time around. The supporting characters, like Wayne, Griffin, and Murray, are still fun, but they feel more like side distractions rather than major players in the story. One of the biggest problems with Transformania is that it does not have the same heart as the earlier movies. The first three Hotel Transylvania films were not just about comedy and monster antics. They had real heart underneath all the craziness, especially when it came to Dracula and his relationship with Mavis. That emotional connection is much weaker in this one. The movie feels more like a series of funny moments rather than a story that really matters. The pacing is also a little off. Some parts move too quickly, rushing through important moments, while other scenes drag on longer than they need to. There are a few fun action sequences, but the stakes never feel as high as they should. By the time the movie reaches its big conclusion, it just does not feel as satisfying as the previous ones. It is not a terrible movie. It still has some laughs, and kids will probably enjoy it. But compared to the other Hotel Transylvania movies, it is definitely the weakest. The lack of Adam Sandler is a huge issue, and it is hard not to feel like something is missing the entire time. If you are a big fan of the series, it might be worth watching just to see how it all wraps up. But if you are looking for the same level of fun and charm as the earlier movies, this one does not quite deliver. Not the worst, but definitely disappointing.
