Cellular is a pretty generic action/thriller. The film has a super generic premise that you have heard 1000 times with a kidnapping. The film is really low budget which really took me out of the film. The entire movie is something you have seen 1000s of times before. The dialogue is also pretty cheesy as well and kinda got me laughing at some parts. The cast is surprisingly stacked but they all are sleep walking through the entire film, except for Kate Bassenger. The characters are all one note as well. The film is still entirely watchable and the action that we do get in here is decent and it makes the film enjoyable. Overall it was a pretty mediocre and forgettable experience with it still being enjoyable but the film was so predictable and it needed a higher budget.

Imagine going about your day, minding your own business. The phone rings. It's a stranger, kidnaped and pleading for your help. You are her only chance... I hadn't heard about this film until recently and I can't recall it ever being on tv either, so I was unsure what to expect. It gets off to a very shaky start. It cuts from Basinger in a fairly gritty kidnap scene to Chris Evans on a beach having trouble with his valley girl ex-scenes which feel like they belong in some teen rom-com. However, the film improves as it goes on, with a better balance being developed between humor and drama and a semi-decent twisty turn plot moving on. Evans does a good job of portraying a vulnerable hero way above his head. Kim Basinger is miscast as a science teacher [ok...] but does her best. Jason Statham plays one of his few full villain rolls, and sadly doesn't show a lot of his trademark charisma, being only given a standard heavy part. William H. Macy is the best part of this film in his supporting part, adding a good deal of humor and screen presence, especially in the finale. The film reminds me of another Statham film, Chaos. Its nothing major and quickly forgettable, but its solid 90 mins entertainment.
