Great movie and great memories of the cars, clothes, etc.

The car chase is fantastic, but car chase with no plot a movie does not make. Steve McQueen barely acts at all in this entire movie, he just sort of... stands there. Or sits there. Without any real stakes or direction, the entire ride feels hollow.

“Bullitt” is light on plot but strong on visuals. Steve McQueen carries the film with very little dialogue, relying instead on presence, how he looks, how he moves, how he occupies each scene. The film’s memorable moment remains the car chase through San Francisco, still one of the best put on screen. It works because it feels grounded and real, not staged. What keeps the film engaging isn’t the story or the dialogue, it’s the filmmaking itself: the control, the pacing, the restraint. It’s worth watching for that alone.
