Just looking at all that stuff in the movie as props is kool. Especially that killer stereo. Phil Collins , No Jacket Required has NEVER sounded the same again.

A self absorbed, jealous, cranky, sadistic businessman who compares business card fonts with his friends while listening to Huey Lewis and the News. Is the film really happening? Maybe. Maybe it’s all in the wrapped mind of Bale’s Patrick Bateman character. Either way if it’s having to return video tapes or reserve a table at fancy restrauants, Patrick Bateman finds time to murder and spend his money on hookers. Who he also kills. It’s a brutal dark comedy and I’m here for it.

- theLillyPad1 juli 2025Bale's early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Psycho came out in 2000, I think he really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole performance has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the movie a big boost. He's been compared to Daniel Day-Lewis, but I think Bale has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In 2000, Pressman released this; American Psycho, his most accomplished film. I think its an undisputed masterpiece. A film so memable, most people probably don't pay attention to the message. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It's also a personal statement about the lack of accountability for elites and the effects of unregulated corporatism!

Restaurants, clothes, business cards, who has the nicest apartment — everything is treated like it actually matters. Meanwhile Bateman is completely losing his mind behind that perfect image. Christian Bale is great in the role, especially because he makes Bateman feel both completely pathetic an The mix of comedy and violence is handled really well. One minute you’re laughing at something ridiculous, the next things get pretty uncomfortable. I also love how stylish the whole movie looks and how much of the humor comes from all these tiny details. The ending is definitely going to leave some people confused, but I like that it doesn't spell everything out. Really weird, really funny and still incredibly memorable.
