- Tiffie StarchildAugust 1, 2025This show is SO incredibly good! Netflix Animation really consistently comes out the gate SWINGING with their original series and I hope that it never ends! I think it was definitely a bit different, seeing Norse mythology as opposed to Greek or Egyptian, and kinda funny separating these characterizations of characters (like Loki) from iterations that we’ve seen them. It’s absolutely worth your watch. It’s violent and heart-wrenching and the fights are amazing.
- Ned PeyrouxApril 4, 2026Excellent homage to classic comix from Will Eisner to Jack Kirby, with nods and tips of the hat to post modern cartoonists like Chris Ware and Scott McCloud, but for Snyder’s first and only cartoon animation since Tales of the Black Freighter, it was a bit disappointing. I’m not demanding a new Tex Avery, let alone a Richard Williams, and maybe I’ve been spoiled by Ralph Bakshi, Don Bluth, even Martin Rosen, but they set a standard that even Greg Tartakovsky must face. Sometimes, the Avant Garde moves in retrograde: it’s all relative.
