The place - Russia. The time - tomorrow. After a global catastrophe, the nature of which our heroes can only guess, most of the population perishes. On the mountains of weapons left by civilization, only the young and the strong survive. But they have paid dearly for their pass to the new world. Relieved of memory, they have forgotten their previous lives, retaining only their most primitive instincts. Yet some steadily regain their memory and human consciousness. Our story concerns these partially "awoken" few and their attempts to find a footing in the new world. In his previous life, the main character Goche (George Dimov) was a dyed-in-the-wool intellectual. Like others, he is now not merely trying to recover his memory but is also trying to perceive himself as human again. Against him stand those who have already rehumanized and are using their rediscovered memory and knowledge to bring the world to heel.
