The Bernie Mac Show is an American sitcom that aired on Fox for five seasons from November 14, 2001 to April 14, 2006. The series featured comic actor Bernie Mac and his wife Wanda raising his sister's three kids: Jordan, Bryana, and Vanessa.

    Now You Got ItAfter Bryana's birthday party the kids get sick. Bernie Mac is determined to go to Las Vegas, so he takes every precaution he can take but in the end still gets sick and has to spend the day with Bryana at home.

    The Main EventJordan is getting bullied at school, so Bernie Mac teaches him how to stand up to them. But his tactics turn Jordan into even bigger bully. Even more interesting we see that Bernie Mac is an even bigger bully.

    A Christmas StoryThe kids get a dog from the pound, thinking it will be the perfect present for Bernie. Bernie finds the dog, hides it, thinking it is the perfect present for the kids. They think he took it back to the pound, so they try and get revenge.

    Starting SchoolSeparate schools have been chosen for each of the kids, with their individual needs in mind. Baby Girl's school lets each child decide what they wish to learn. A Catholic school with its strict discipline is chosen for Jordan and an all-round school for Nessa. When the first day of school begins, Bernie discovers the hard work of getting them there, presentable and prepared.

    Hot Hot HotA nasty heat wave in the dead winter of January hits the town. Tempers flare, including Aunt Wanda. After the A\C breaks, Bernie Mac really starts losing it. Eventually, just when things seem to cool down, the kids lock him out of the house, giving him a taste of his own medicine.

    Wanda's Week OffWanda has vacation saved up and it's 'use it or lose it time'. She decides she'd like to spend the week, caring for and bonding with the children. At first it's much more than she expected, but ends the week wanting a child of her own. Bernie Mac 'puts his foot down'.

    The King and Iwhen Bernie realizes that anything he says to Jordan and Bryana first goes through Vanessa, he decides to stop fighting the situation and let Vanessa be responsible for the kids.

    Hall of FameJordan sets his sights on joining Vanessa and Bryana on the Bernie Mac Hall of Fame awards shelf. He decides to join his school's football team after hearing that everyone on the squad gets a trophy just for participating. Bernie is thrilled that Jordan is playing football—until he sees his playing skills.

    Handle Your BusinessBernie is booked on a popular morning radio show, and he gets himself into trouble with the whole family when he draws from his private life to bring comedy to the public airwaves.

    Back in the DayBernie becomes concerned when he begins to see the classic signs that old age is catching up with him. He's forgetful, has aches and pains, and is finding gray hairs in, uh, unwanted places. When a panic attack sends Bernie to the Emergency Room after an argument with the kids, he decides to not let the kids send him to an early grave. He fights back and begins trying to act young again. He blasts his music and nags his friends for not staying up all night to play poker with him. Bernie only makes matters worse however when all his ""young"" activities take their toll on his mind and body. When Bryana asks Bernie to play in her Father-Daughter Basketball tournament at school, he complains, saying that he is just too old to play. When he gets to the game though, he realizes that he should be playing and joins in. Although he gets hurt playing, Bernie realizes that being old doesn't mean stopping your life.

    Lock DownWhen someone breaks into the Mac house, Bernie realizes how vulnerable his family is and turns the house into a high-security compound. Bernie is reminded by his friends of all the crime that happens outside of the home and drives his family crazy with his overprotectiveness.

    Mac 101Impressed by the behavior and talents of another family's kids, Bernie cracks down on his own with a program of constant studying.

    If I Were N-Riched ManAfter hearing Bernie use inappropriate language at home, Bryana goes to school and repeats it—much to the horror of her teacher. Soon after, a social worker shows up at the house to discuss Bernie's hostility problems.

    Stop Having SexThis story mainly focuses on three subplots. First Bernie Mac keeps interfering with Vanessa's pool party because there are boys there. Secondly, Jordan has a play date with a friend, but Bernie suspects that the friend has gay dads. In each of these Bernie worries when they get too close. In the third part, Vanessa and Jordan (with Bryana's help) keep interrupting Wanda's and Bernie's romantic night.
  • Secrets and Lies

    Secrets and LiesBernie takes Jordan to a Clippers' game but tells Wanda that Jordan has had an asthma attack and had to go to the hospital. Wanda tries to help Jordan 'feel better'. He feels guilty and asks Bernie if he can admit his wrongdoing. Bernie explains that it is occasionaly ok to lie, but Jordan takes it to a whole new level. He manipulates his sisters, aunt, school, and even Bernie. When the family has dinner a slew of lies are admitted by everyone in the family.

    Kelly's HeroesAfter getting dumped, Bernie's friend Kelly moves in. At first it doesn't go well, but eventually he starts helping out and getting along well with the kids. But soon Bernie thinks he's becoming a permanent role model for the kids, and taking Bernie's place.

    Sweet Home Chicago (1)Due to a death in the family, Bernie Mac must take a trip back home and will take Wanda and the kids. Vanessa is keen to see her mother while there. When they arrive for visiting hours at the rehab center, the kids' mother is nowhere to be found.

    Sweet Home Chicago (2)While the rest of the family is out seeing Chicago, Vanessa calls and leaves a message for her mother and goes out to meet friends. Her friends fight with her, take her shoes and leave her alone. Vanessa's mother returns her call and agrees to meet her in a half-hour. Bernie shares a story with Nessa about his own father, that he's never shared with anyone.
