But despite that, I still *love* this show—I’ve rewatched it more than a dozen times. A lot of the experiences hit close to home for me, especially having a bipolar alcoholic mother and a problematic alcoholic (step)father. The acting throughout is absolutely incredible and really brings everything to life.

Jeremy Allen White (Lip) went from “that kid with potential” to bona fide star, while Emmy Rossum’s Fiona remains the show’s backbone — the overburdened matriarch who shoulders everyone else’s mistakes until the weight finally breaks her. And Macy? He’s an artist of chaos, playing Frank as both prophet and parasite, the man you hate but can’t stop watching. What makes Shameless special is its honesty. I pay $16 a month and can't get the Showtime original Shameless because Paramount Plus/Showtime sold the streaming rights to Netflix so they can put more millions in there overstuffed pockets. Now you have to pay $20 more a month if you want Shameless on Netflix. What a scam they all have sewn together!
