Třetí série australského dramatu Sea Patrol měla premiéru pod názvem Sea Patrol 3: Red Gold na stanici Nine Network 18. května 2009. Hlavní natáčení probíhalo stejně jako v minulých sezónách v oblasti Mission Beach v Queenslandu a jejím okolí. Rozpočet byl oznámen na 17 milionů australských dolarů. Rod Welford, queenslandský ministr pro vzdělávání, odbornou přípravu a umění, označil pokračování produkce v severním Queenslandu za "velký přínos pro náš místní filmový a televizní průmysl". Natáčení třetí sezóny Sea Patrol skončilo v polovině února. Seriál odstartoval nehodou ET, při níž se zabil potápěč. V seriálu Mořská hlídka 3 stále působí hlídkový člun třídy Armidale. Dvě nové stálé hvězdy Blair McDonough a Jessica Napier si zahrály manželský pár Matta a Simone Robsennovy, kteří jsou místními potápěčskými mistry. Premiéra 3. série Mořské hlídky se uskutečnila 18. května 2009. Vysílala se každé pondělí večer na Channel 9 v 8.30.
