Sami had been secretly trying to help a refugee family come to Canada and start a better life, and every step of their struggle to integrate reminds Sami of his own struggles when he was new to Canada. When the family finally arrives, it gets very crowded in the house but the Canadian values of politeness shine through and each new member learns a lesson in what it takes to be a true Canadian at heart.
