Lanterns
Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Coach Taylor as a superhero?!
(Emily, Co-President) I’m not usually the first person to jump at a superhero show, normally I wait for people to recommend / tell me I’m going to like it. But HBO has a way of putting a spin on things that makes me lean in and want to watch. And it usually comes down to the characters and the dynamics between them.
So, yes, I am both curious and excited about Lanterns. With Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen) and Chris Mundy (Ozark) behind the series, I’m expecting this to be more than just a superhero story. Knowing the show starts out with having to solve a murder in small-town America, but then turns into something much bigger, while also having a buddy-cop dynamic, and ALL the Green Lantern mythology…there’s going to be a lot that to dive into.
I’m really interested to see what Lindelof and Mundy bring to this world—especially the relationship between John Stewart and Hal Jordan, and how it develops as they have to work together. Give me complicated characters, interesting dynamics, and a little mystery, and I’m in.
And then there’s Kyle Chandler. If for no other reason, I will tune in for Kyle Chandler. He has a way of making every character feel completely real, and I can’t wait to see what he does with this one. Coach Taylor as a superhero. Yes, please!
