Jacky and Lindsay have been passionately in love for 20 years. Jacky is eight months pregnant, and Lindsay is wheelchair-bound. They grew up in a trailer park on the North Sea coast and have known nothing but hardship their whole lives. They're now preparing for their new baby with stars in their eyes, but also with an endless stream of debt and the feeling that the hard times will never end. When their flat explodes while a bailiff is trying to evict them, they decide to take fate into their own hands and escape in an ice cream truck, headed for the land of their dreams: England.
