In the 1970s tea factory Jaime and Beatriz fall in love. The lovers try to escape but are caught by the girl's father and a friend. Jaime ends up managing to escape but gets shot and thinks Beatriz betrayed him. Present Jaime is a rich man in Canada who has returned to the Azores and is ready for revenge and begins to buy the companies of the Machado family, which is Beatriz's family, but the two end up dying in a car accident causing the lives of their children Clara and Tomé to intertwine.
