Relationship drama wrapped in mystery; sharp tension and messy emotions keep it addictive despite familiar twists.

A twisty mini-series made up of six episodes that twists and turns and shines a light on many of the characters throughout its run-time. Some stupid character decisions and conveniences annoy but overall it was a decent distraction for a few evenings.

I absolutely hated it. Every single character in the entire series is completely hate-able, not one you would care about or take any interest in. The two most hated characters play the two leads. The part that makes you want to vomit 🤮 is that the rediculously stupid "twist" at the end is intended to somehow justify horrible people behaving horribly because something horrible happened to them 🙄It's a stupid ending. What makes a twist great and a real twist is that all the pieces are there to piece together but you don't so when the twist is revealed you say, "omg, of course! How could I have missed all the signs!" This ending is NOT a twist, it is simply a reveal you get to fill part of a backstory through a flashback. No twist, only a flashback to explain the whole mess. Laziest writing ever. If you enjoy watching and can relate to horrible people, and don't mind wasting hours of your life when you can just watch the last 20 minutes to get the whole story, then this is for you! Enjoy!

The only thing missing from this show is that Jon Bernthal didn't want to tell us something 🤣

Solidly entertaining watch. Bernthal and Thompson are perfectly cast. I’m a big fan of the 6 episode length for these kinds of limited series. The ones that are 8-10 episodes just feel way too long. Thought this worked really well up until the finale which, in my opinion, had one too many twists. Worthy binge.

Watched it for Poppy Liu, but unfortunately she has about five minutes of screen time. Still, His & Hers is a fun time. It’s a relatively quick watch because the six episodes are around 40 minutes each and they move at a brisk pace. The performances, especially from our two leads, were pretty great. With that said, I do wish the mystery was stronger. While the set up is pretty engaging, the execution is a bit lacking. There’s some fun twists here and there, but I think the whodunit aspect suffers the most. You have this great ensemble, with actors like Marin Ireland, who is probably the best we’ve ever had at playing white trash; Poppy Liu, who as I said, was the main reason I watched; and Sunita Mani, who’s always exceptional in everything, but the show gives them nothing to do. They’re just left out on the side to focus on the two leads. And to be honest, I’d be fine with that, but both of them frustrated me so much. There’s so much potential in both their characters, but the show never wants to engage with them in a more complex way. There’s some layers to Anna’s character, played by the always-incredible Tessa Thompson but Jon Bernthal’s Jack Harper is left completely out to dry. He doesn’t get anything to do beyond screaming a bunch. The trailer and Anna’s voiceover introduce an interesting idea, that there are “two sides to every story”, but the show never fully commits to it. “Who’s guilty here?” is the question the show wants you to ask but it never gives you enough elements to truly wrestle with that question. I am a wee bit disappointed with the show, but still, it’s a fun time. I love trying to solve the case with the characters as I watch, but since none of the supporting characters are really fleshed out, my guess for the killer ended up being correct. In fact, I guessed two major twists, and I was really just throwing out the most random guesses, so it was surprising I was right the both times.

If your final act makes the most interesting part of your story null and void, that’s bad storytelling...
