After a tough loss at Regionals, the glee club is back as the underdogs of McKinley High. When the school is faced with even more budget cuts, Mr. Schuester pushes the kids to help recruit new members for the club. Rachel and Finn disagree on new recruits, including Sam Evans and exchange student Sunshine Corazon. New Directions now have their sights set on making it to Nationals and defeating their arch rivals, Vocal Adrenaline. With his heart in the right place, Will is determined to help the kids take Nationals, but at every turn he must battle with his nemesis, Sue Sylvester, the conniving cheerleading coach.

While the dreamy doc inspires the girls to take their dental health more seriously, Will is left feeling worse than before.

Carol will play Sue's Nazi-hunting mother Doris, who comes to visit Sue in Ohio.

Quinn waivers between Finn and Sam, while Santana hatches a plot to punish the cheaters, and Rachel realizes it's time to put Finn behind her.

    SexySchuester volunteers to program Glee club songs which help with sex education, hearing many of his kids are dangerously ignorant. Free-spirited substitute sex-education teacher Holly Holliday therefore comes help him select and arrange appropriate repertoire. That proves tricky, as does the kids' own input, also on account of their personal (romantic) agendas. The Celibacy Club welcomes unlikely recruits.

He gets Will to organize soloist auditions, at which he tries to undermine everybody's confidence before applauding Rachel. Meanwhile Fin and Kurt, who each lost a parent, volunteer to help boxing and insist the choir must perform at the funeral of arch-enemy Sue's beloved, utterly different sister Jean Sylvester.
