- Gamescom 2023: We play through the video game trade show! | GAME TWO #301E1
Gamescom 2023: We play through the video game trade show! | GAME TWO #301From the summer break directly to GAMESCOM! In the first part of our trade fair special, we have collected the best games, biggest news and most exciting impressions of Gamescom for you. With topics like Starfield, Ghostrunner 2, Black Myth: Wukong, Little Nightmares 3, Alan Wake 2 and Tekken 8, Gamescom in Cologne has some top-class titles in the line up. But even if many bigger names like Sony or EA are missing and Nintendo and Ubisoft don't present much new, there are still enough topics for 2 complete Game Two from Cologne: Constance, Total War: Pharaoh, Stalker 2, Persona 5 Tactica, Persona 3 Reload... The list is long. And apart from that, we even developed our own video game. Granted: You can't play "Game Two: Gamescom Quest" but at least you can look at it. And it looks quite nice, doesn't it? - Gamescom 2023: No good games? No way! | GAME TWO #302E2
Gamescom 2023: No good games? No way! | GAME TWO #302Who says that there were no good games at the fair? We have a few counter-arguments! Trant has taken a closer look at the best Souls Likes of the fair: BLACK MYTH: WUKONG is a surprise hit that caught many cold and therefore already caused long queues at the booth at the fair. But also LIES OF P or LORDS OF THE FALLEN make a very good impression. In addition, Trant was able to play PATH OF EXILE 2, which could possibly outrun Diablo 4. John was able to play GHOSTRUNNER 2, which also looked pretty good, and MORTAL KOMBAT 1 offered the usual good Klopp quality and of course brutal fatalities. Markus and Sebastian then checked out the INDIE ARENA BOOTH and there they not only saw SUPER BUNNY MAN again, but also a whole bunch of other indie game secret tips. - Helldivers 2, Skull and Bones, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden | GAME TWO #323E23
Helldivers 2, Skull and Bones, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden | GAME TWO #323We have a new champion! HELLDIVERS 2 came out of nowhere and quickly became one of the most played games at the moment. Despite server problems, the co-op alien shooter in the style of Starship Troopers does a lot right. In stark contrast to SKULL AND BONES. Over the past few years, we have doubted at times that we would even live to see its release. But now the pirate MMO is actually here and confirms many of our fears. Studio Don't Nod will probably be familiar to many because of the popular adventure game Life is Strange. However, their latest project BANISHERS: GHOSTS OF NEW EDEN also has the potential to appeal to single-player gamers with a penchant for good stories. This week's news is all about the ELDEN RING DLC called SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE, the NINTENDO DIRECT and other important news from the gaming world. - Twitch Hype: Content Warning, Opinion: No more hand-holding, Under the Radar | Game Two #329E29
Twitch Hype: Content Warning, Opinion: No more hand-holding, Under the Radar | Game Two #329CONTENT WARNING is currently going viral on Twitch. And that's funny, because the game itself is also about going viral. We gave the hype game a try. It's been far too long since we've had a post where Basti sits somewhere and talks into the camera. That's over now! In his column "Less mechanics, more feeling!", he calls for video games to have less hand-holding and let players explore for themselves how the game world works. In UNTER DEM RADAR, we have once again compiled the best indie games of recent times. Included this time are: SECRETS OF GRINDEA, PEPPER GRINDER, BERSERK BOY, SOLIUM INFERNUM, CHILDREN OF THE SUN, ENDER MAGNOLIA: BLOOM IN THE MIST, INKBOUND and BULWARK: FALCONEER CHRONICLES. - Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Harold Halibut, Rogue Prince of Persia | Game Two #330E30
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Harold Halibut, Rogue Prince of Persia | Game Two #330Game Two has a new presenter! From now on, Esther will alternate with Sofia, Lara, Nils, Eddy, Simon and Budi to lead you through the show! Esther has also brought something for you. HAROLD HALIBUT! The game from German studio Slow Bros looks phenomenally good and there's a reason for that. All the assets in the game are handmade. Can the adventure game also keep up with the story and gameplay? If you are more into role-playing games and have a heart for retro games, you will probably look forward to EIYUDEN CHRONICLE: HUNDRED HEROES. The spiritual successor to Suikoden not only comes with over 100 playable characters, but also many features familiar from legendary JRPGs from the good old days. And you read that right: There is yet another new Prince of Persia game. THE ROGUE PRINCE OF PERSIA is, as the name suggests, a roguelite. Find out what new ideas the prince brings to the genre in our preview! - Manor Lords, Stellar Blade, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU | Game Two #331E31
Manor Lords, Stellar Blade, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU | Game Two #331City building in the Middle Ages may sound boring to some, but MANOR LORDS has triggered a little hype. The first scenes of the historically detailed construction simulation have already catapulted the game to number 1 on Steam's wishlist. The game is now in Early Access and has to prove itself. STELLAR BLADE has received a similar amount of attention in advance. The game is not stingy with violence and naked skin and has received a lot of criticism for this in advance. Find out in the review whether the game is still convincing. In TALES OF KENZERA: ZAU, the lead developer deals with the loss of his father. This may sound a little too dramatic for some people at first, but the gameplay should still appeal to many. This is because it relies on the Metroidvania principle, which has often proven its worth. - Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, XDefiant, The Rogue Prince of Persia | Game Two #336E36
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, XDefiant, The Rogue Prince of Persia | Game Two #336This week on Game Two gets serious: SENUA’S SAGA: HELLBLADE 2 tackles heavy topics like psychosis, depression, and delusions. However, the sequel doesn't follow the exact path of its predecessor and takes new directions, which not everyone appreciates. XDefiant by Ubisoft was initially planned as a Tom Clancy game, but the name has been dropped. The goal remains to rival Call of Duty. Many shooter fans are unhappy with Activision's recent decisions, such as with the Modern Warfare 2 remake, and may be looking for something new. However, XDefiant faces its own issues with gameplay bugs and server problems. THE ROGUE PRINCE OF PERSIA was delayed due to the release of Hades 2, but the Early Access version is now available. Game Two reviewed the roguelite in Early Access to confirm their preview impressions. - Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, Nine Sols, Athenian Rhapsody | Game Two #337E37
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, Nine Sols, Athenian Rhapsody | Game Two #337MMORPG FINAL FANTASY XIV has held up well since its “REALM REBORN” reincarnation and enjoys a lively fan base. The fifth expansion, “DAWNTRAIL”, aims to motivate them to stick with it. Our FINAL FANTASY XIV expert Miro was in Potsdam to take a look at an early version of DAWNTRAIL and shares her impressions with you. NINE SOLS wants to cross HOLLOW KNIGHT with SEKIRO - a bold undertaking, considering how highly regarded both games are in their respective genres. Markus reveals whether the attempt is a success. ATHENIAN RHAPSODY, created by a solo developer, is also a wild mix: it takes indie RPG darling UNDERTALE and the wild party mini-game mix WARIO WARE as its role models. Not possible? You can! As Esther tells you in her review. - The big Summer Game Fest special LIVE from Los Angeles | Game Two #338E38
The big Summer Game Fest special LIVE from Los Angeles | Game Two #338Launched as a replacement for E3, the SUMMER GAME FEST is now a must-attend event for all gaming fans. In addition to the eponymous opening show, which is hosted by Geoff Keighley, this year's multi-day event also includes the XBOX GAMES SHOWCASE, UBISOFT FORWARD, the PC GAMING SHOW, the DEVOLVER DIRECT and many other shows. Among other things, there were announcements and fresh trailers for INDIANA JONES AND THE GREAT CIRCLE, DRAGON AGE: THE VEILGUARD, DOOM: THE DARK AGES, GEARS OF WAR: E-DAY, ASSASSINS CREED SHADOWS, FABLE, CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS 6, PERFECT DARK, ATOMFALL, LIFE IS STRANGE DOUBLE EXPOSURE, MONSTER HUNTER WILDS or STAR WARS OUTLAWS. We were there in Los Angeles with a small crew consisting of Esther, John, Jasper and Micha and not only watched all the shows, but were also able to play numerous games. - Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Still Wakes the Deep, #BLUD | GAME TWO #339E39
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Still Wakes the Deep, #BLUD | GAME TWO #339The time has come!!! The eagerly awaited ELDEN RING SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE DLC is here and fans of From Software are all excited. But as soon as you play it, you're brought down to earth by the first boss. Because Elden Ring is still no walk in the park. Even an oil rig is no picnic, as STILL WAKES THE DEEP impressively proves. Some might call the game a walking simulator, but Chris doesn't think that does justice to the game, which cleverly mixes elements of horror and adventure. Things get really wild with #BLUD. The game comes from a company that actually specializes in animated films and you can see that in the game. Anyone who likes cartoons from the early 2000s, such as Powerpuff Girls or Newton, will definitely get a visual kick out of it. - Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Luigis Mansion 2 HD, Bodycam, Zet Zillions and much more | GAME TWO #340E40
Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Luigis Mansion 2 HD, Bodycam, Zet Zillions and much more | GAME TWO #340Under the radar is back! Or whatever Simon calls this section. Included this week are the following games: BODYCAM, ZET ZILLIONS, LITTLE KITTY BIG CITY, EMPIRES OF THE UNDERGROWTH and SKALD: AGAINST THE BLACK PRIORY. Also in the show: The remaster of LUIGIS MANSION 2. The adventure game was originally released on the 3DS and is now coming to the Nintendo Switch as Luigi's Mansion 2 HD. And while we're on the subject of the Switch: SUPER MONKEY BALL BANANA RUMBLE is not only interesting for speedrunners, but for anyone who likes chasing high scores and best times and has a thing for little monkeys. But maybe there's more to Super Monkey Ball than that? - Ostwind (...wtf?!), Dug Up: Final Fantasy 9, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D | GAME TWO #341E41
Ostwind (...wtf?!), Dug Up: Final Fantasy 9, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D | GAME TWO #341It's not our fault either. You actually want to do a review of Flintlock on the show and then the game is so... normal and comes out shortly after Elden Ring, which somehow makes it even less attractive. Well, and what else? We're slowly entering the summer slump, because there aren't really many alternatives. But we wouldn't be Game Two if we didn't make a virtue of it and use the time to cover a topic that we would otherwise leave out: EASTWIND: THE BEGINNING OF A WONDERFUL FRIENDSHIP REMASTERED. Yes, why not? Chris shows in his EXCAVATION why he thinks FINAL FANTASY IX is the best Final Fantasy in the series and really deserves a remake. And because DRAGON QUEST III has already been remade, Markus takes a look at the preview version and checks whether Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has a few other new features to offer besides a complicated name.
