Adrianne Palicki (Tyra)'s Favorite Episode—"People Still Stop Me on the Street"
We asked Adrianne Palicki to tell us which Friday Night Lights episode means the most to her. This is what she said:
"I want to define myself instead of having others define me."
That line from Tyra's college essay is the reason "Underdogs" has never left me. For so much of the series, she's been defined by other people's expectations—but in this episode, she takes ownership of her story and starts imagining a future on her own terms.
What makes it especially meaningful is how much it resonates beyond the character. As a young actor, I knew exactly what it felt like to be underestimated and to wonder what was possible beyond the path others saw for me.
The essay isn't really about getting everything you want—it's about allowing yourself to want something more. "It's not that I think I'm going to get all these things, I just want the possibility of getting them." That idea of possibility is what makes the moment so powerful.
I also love that while she's reading the essay, we see the other characters and how they’re also handling the uncertainty of what's next (including Tim and Saracen just goofing off). It’s hopeful, emotional, and beautifully captures that feeling of standing at the edge of a new chapter.
