Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy Ratings & Reviews
- DOAN FSD7d agoPeacock was looking for a way to do this right for a long time, and they finally found the perfect formula. Every actor did an outstanding job following the narrative, but Chris Sullivan (the trial prosecutor that secured Gacy's death penalty) was the star of the show putting on one of the boldest performances I've ever seen from this perspective. Should be considered top of the line and deserves awards for this showcase of talent.
- The Gutter MonkeyOctober 24, 2025Remaining respectful and non-gratuitous is nice, but this safe route may've made for a less impactful story.
- KezzzOctober 24, 2025The mini-series vividly portrays the horrors of John W. Gacy, the notorious 1970s serial killer, by centering on the heartache of the victims' parents and the police's initial failure to investigate their disappearances. Although I personally would have preferred more focus on the crimes and Gacy's disturbing clown persona to avoid humanizing him, the show is ultimately elevated by the stellar cast. Michael Chernus, in particular, delivered a pitch-perfect performance as the killer.
- Pascal BollierOctober 19, 2025We do not get to see any of the actual killings - a deliberate strategy which, for the most part, works. the portrayed victims come across as inidiviual people with their own histories and personalities, just like they really were. however, there is something missing. yes, we can cut away before the horror starts, but thats not real life. and this aspect of gacy, the torturer and rapist and murderer is only glimpsed at. not enough to bring across the monster he was. performances are good all around, they included some nice historical details such as the misspelling of gacy's name (episode 3). what i do not understand is why they left out the iconic closing of the D.A. (look it up). that would have made a powerful moment. All in all recommended not only for true crime fans!
