Daredevil: Born Again Ratings & Reviews
- EnochLightMarch 10, 2025UPDATE: I'm now 5 episodes in - updated review at the end. Original starts here: I'm 2 episodes in, and so far - the series has done a great job at keeping the feel of the original Netflix seasons. Initially I was a little worried, as the CGI-heavy beginning scene with our hero swinging off of a building looked 100% fake, but thankfully - the hand to hand combat is still as visceral (with mostly practical effects and choreography) as the original Netflix series. That said, I am 100% *NOT* happy with how they treated Foggy and Karen (especially Foggy!), but hoping this is rectified - whether it be later in the season or in an alleged Season 2 (or Season 5?) remains to be seen. I was reluctant to commit to this when I heard Steven S. DeKnight wasn't involved, but Dario Scardapane - as a writer for The Punisher (Netflix) - was probably the next best choice. The show "feels" like its Netflix predecessor - tonally and spiritually. If I had any complaint (aside from the aforementioned treatment of Foggy and Karen), it's that Wilson Fisk's relationship with his wife Vanessa seems odd. This is not the same relationship that we knew Wilson and Vanessa had, and it feels tonally... off. These things aside, by the end of Episode 2 - I was in. Hoping it sticks the landing. UPDATE: OK, I'm now up to Episode 5's "With Interest". Liked that it was a heist episode. Did not like that - we're 5 episodes into this season and Matt still isn't wearing his suit. We've all seen this before - do we really need to do it yet again? Also not a fan of the fact that they are inserting more fan service crap - do we REALLY need to insert Ms. Marvel into Daredevil? That was a kid's show aimed at tweens - Daredevil is an adult show with broken bones and the F-bomb. Disney - just... DON'T. We don't need connective tissue to that nor She-Hulk (shudders at the thought). Also not a fan that they are once again starting to get preachy (not Falcon & Winter Soldier-level "you've got to do better" preachy, but close). I'm talking about the scene with the Irish dude and the hostage negotiator's whole Saint Patrick's Day interaction at the end. Again, Disney - just DON'T. Starting to lose faith that they'll stick the landing, but hoping they right the ship and turn this around. I will give props to the action/fight scenes. They didn't hold back at the end (#legs stuff). Will update again as the season progresses...
- Hani Shaker7d agoOne of the best Daredevil shows; I have watched
- SeanC221November 11, 2025Good show, needs new villains. Tired of Kingpin and Bullseye.
- Gen LockSeptember 6, 2025The show isn't Daredevil for me. It's a lot of a very fit blind man dramatically tilting his head at sounds and having feelings in poorly lit hallways. It's the celery stick on the buffet plate—fine for structural integrity, but not why you're there. Then, FINALLY! The main feature arrived! Frank Castle exploded onto the screen like a one-man army fuelled by pure rage and great trigger discipline. It was glorious! It was everything I signed up for! Explosions, justice without a side of whining, and the soothing sound of bad guys getting exactly what they deserved. Daredevil is just the loading screen for my favourite show the Punisher! Call me when Frank Castle gets his own remote. This was just a very, very long trailer. The correct title is: Daredevil: Boring Again :-)
- Ira White Jr.August 7, 2025Great storytelling and action scenes, kind of slows a bit in areas but it's understandable so you get a grip on the story, and the Punisher coming back was F'ng awesome! Punisher stole the show for me, he's brutal and doesn't give damn just like the comics, and I really hope they do a Punisher show and movies to take advantage of Bernthal while he's willing to do the Punisher, because he's one of the best to do it in years.
- Abhiii.xJuly 6, 2025Can't wait for s2 bruhh the curiosity at the end and the BGM🔥 especially the somber music🫡📈📈
- Justin HardinJune 28, 2025This was one of those shows with the Marvel Studios that made me feel. Wow. Marvel is back with their level of writing and taking their time.
- NathanMarch 27, 2025too bad Disney got greedy and took it away from Netflix , we could be enjoying season 12 instead of 4.
- marshalseaJune 18, 2025Look what happens when you give it to competent directors, writers, and show runners. Over all the tacky trash like She-Hulk etc this nails exactly how to do a Marvel conversion. There's a reason that it all kicked off with Daredevil and managed to spawn the entire MCU - it was good, and continues to be good.
- Damian RomanApril 27, 2025It’s great.
- Alex | Pop Culture BrainMarch 5, 2025I’m glad Marvel continues to let Daredevil be Daredevil. And is leaning into that more mature and grittier side of its Universe. This is a solid B+ at the moment
- gradientorangeApril 18, 2025great season! can’t wait for more!
- Tony BrownApril 5, 2025Best marvel thing out in a long time defo a must see
- Hipster ZOMBIEApril 18, 2025Marvel Studios has struggled to get any sort of cultural foothold with its tv shows on Disney plus. From Ms Marvel to Agatha All Along Marvel somehow lost who they were making their shows for and their audiences dried up. So it’s a sad state of affairs when a good show like Daredevil Born Again comes around and the audience that would have supported it have mostly all been run off. With that said DDBA does its best to replicate the beloved Netflix show that came before it. Despite not always being to escape the large shadow cast by the Netflix show, DDBA delivers where it counts, in action and the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. The show also introduces a handful of compelling new characters, expanding the world of Hell’s Kitchen while staying true to its grounded tone. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is a welcome return and become a key character throughout the season. Despite having most of the first season building up to him, the serial killer Muse overall story lacks and might have been better used in follow up seasons. As it stands he just felt like the warm up for the season’s main villains Bullseye and Kingpin. Visually, Born Again embraces a darker, more cinematic aesthetic, with tight fight choreography and moody lighting that harken back to the show’s roots but with a sleeker, updated feel. The action sequences are intense and visceral — a reminder that Daredevil’s battles are as much about endurance and willpower as they are about physical prowess. Overall, Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 is a strong, character-focused revival that respects the legacy of the original series while carving out a new path in the Marvel landscape. It’s a must-watch for longtime fans and an exciting entry point for newcomers ready to dive into the shadows of Hell’s Kitchen.
- Ryan GApril 16, 2025Congratulations Disney, you have loosened up those tightly wound strings to give us a true R rated marvel property, right up on your prime Disney+ platform. Born Again has a few issues with plot in the early episodes as they weave through two key narratives of the original filmed episodes and the remake story telling that ultimately leads to a true Netflix Daredevil Season 04 being formed. Look forward to season 2!
- Scott SmithMarch 8, 2025I have loved all of the Netflix Daredevil & Punisher series. I was worried that Disney+ would water down the story, but they didn't. It's as brutal and well-done as ever. This may be the best series of the bunch so far.
