⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Why Women Kill – Roses, Revenge, and the Rot Beneath the Wallpaper Why Women Kill is that rare anthology that knows exactly what it’s doing — blending elegance, scandal, and sharp humour with the occasional body on the floor. Across its two seasons, it paints women not as victims or villains, but as beautifully flawed forces of nature navigating love, betrayal, and the absurd theatre of domestic life. Season one is the standout — a kaleidoscope of eras that fold into one another, each telling the same essential story in a different decade: the lies we live with, and the lines we cross when those lies crumble. Lucy Liu is phenomenal as the razor-tongued socialite who discovers her husband’s secret life. She’s angry, vulnerable, and impossibly stylish, a woman who burns bright even as everything around her fades. The show doesn’t shy away from the darker truths of its time — including the quiet horror and stigma of AIDS — grounding its glamour in genuine tragedy. Season two shifts gears entirely, trading the time-hopping structure for a single story wrapped in a semi–film noir aesthetic. It’s glossier, moodier, and leans more into the absurd, like Desperate Housewives wandering through a Hitchcock daydream. While it doesn’t quite have the emotional heft of the first, it’s still full of bite, colour, and cattiness in all the right places. Stylish, wickedly funny, and occasionally tragic, Why Women Kill feels like a dark chocolate confection — rich, slightly bitter, and impossible not to finish once you’ve had a taste. 🍷 Pairing: A deep red Shiraz — smooth, bold, and with just enough acidity to remind you that sweetness without bite is never worth the sip.
