During the Great Patriotic War in 1942, by decision of the headquarters of the Supreme High Command near Rivne, a special-purpose detachment "Winners" was created. Reconnaissance is the main task assigned to the detachment commander Dmitriy Medvedev. Intelligence gathering under the guise of a german officer is carried out by security officer Nikolay Kuznetsov, known in the detachment under the name Grachyov. He manages to learn about the impending german offensive near Kursk and commit a series of acts of retaliation against fascist war criminals, but during the Soviet offensive in February 1944, the scout dies on the way to the front line.
