The series follows the working life of the postman Patrick "Pat" Clifton, who works for the Royal Mail postal service in the fictional village of Greendale and the nearby town of Pencaster. The village is located on the border between Cumbria and North Yorkshire. Pat frequently lends a helping hand to villagers facing problems.
