Onde assistir The Florida Project
- Garrett Wilkins24 de julho de 2026The Florida Project didn’t immediately reveal itself to me. Its early stretch feels almost weightless, drifting from one sun-soaked moment to the next as kids race around a rundown motel with no clear narrative destination in sight. But that looseness eventually becomes the film’s quiet strength. Like American Honey’s portrait of the midwestern underclass or Moonlight’s exploration of Miami’s overlooked neighborhoods, Sean Baker turns his camera toward a version of America that rarely gets this kind of attention. His vision of Disney-adjacent central Florida is startlingly vivid: pastel motels, fading storefronts, and the strange mix of hope and exhaustion that clings to places built in the shadow of fantasy. Brooklynn Prince and the young cast bring a wild, unfiltered energy that feels pulled straight from real life, and Willem Dafoe’s gentle steadiness gives the film about the only grounding presence it can depend on. By the time the film reaches its final stretch, its intentions have quietly settled in. Halley, played by Bria Vinaite, is a character I struggled with for much of the runtime, yet Baker gradually reveals the weight pressing down on her until frustration gives way to something closer to sorrow. I still wished for more narrative momentum at times, and the film’s pacing occasionally tested my patience. Those reservations didn’t erase what the film accomplishes, though. Baker has a rare ability to capture the way childhood can glow even when the world around it is dimming, and he lets that contrast build until the ending arrives with a kind of emotional clarity that’s very hard to shake. It's not loud nor is it manipulative, and it's not dressed up as a grand statement—it's simply the moment where imagination becomes refuge, and reality becomes too heavy to hold. The Florida Project may not be my favorite A24 film, but its closing moments carry a quiet devastation that settles in the chest and refuses to soften.
- Kubko25 de agosto de 2025This film beautifully shows how pure childhood innocence can shine even in harsh conditions — it’s moving, tender, and heartbreakingly powerful, especially at the end. Brooklynn Prince gives a phenomenal performance as Moonee, holding her own alongside Willem Dafoe, who is equally outstanding
