- "THE MOVIE FANATIC"15 de maio de 2026This direct-to-video (B) movie sequel, tbh is an improvement over the 2nd film; because The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations had a direction and went with it unlike the 2nd one. I thought the whole mystery of the serial killer was very interesting and I liked the fact that they added this element in here. I really liked where they decided to go with the overall theme & twist of the film even though it does create a couple of plot holes in the process which I will go over near the end of this review. But that final Revelation does tie everything together in a dark, tragic way that fits the franchise's tone The Detroit setting gives it that thriller/horror look & feel about it. And the visuals as a whole are a big improvement over the 2nd film as well. However even though The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations is a bigger improvement over the 2nd one. It doesn't change the fact that it's way inferior to the original film and here's why; the dialogue is generic and thinly written at times, a lot of the line delivery from the characters lacks any conviction. When you compare it to the first film it really does lack the emotion & depth side of things in comparison as well. And finally there are a couple of significant plot holes here; that I briefly mentioned earlier which does hold the film back for me which I'm going to go over in these upcoming last paragraphs. As much as I could see what they were going for with that twist there's parts of me that likes it; but my movie logic thinking cap can't ignore the significant couple of plot holes that it brought with it at the same time; such as before Sam went back and changed anything in the original timeline, the murders already happened when Jenna was dead but yet there was still a killer??? 🤔🤔🤔 Also the motive for her reason why made no sense. And the film never explains to us how she was able to travel through time, in order to know what timeline Sam would jump at 🤯🤯🤯 And when Sam lets Jenna die in the fire at the end of the movie on purpose to prevent everything; doesn't that mean none of the events in this film every happened. And finally how was Sam able to remember those events if he prevented them all from happening, this movie tried to be overly smart as much as I admire & respect when a film goes for it which it does; it does fall flat on its face in the sheer logic side of things. Even though there's plotholes. I would much rather a film be overly ambitious and really punch above its weight and not get everything ✅️ Rather than a film that's really bland, hollow, unmotivated & unambitiuous like the 2nd movie was a 💯 without a doubt. Overall I have very mixed feelings about this 3rd entry. And giving it a 2.5/5 Stars 🌟 & a 5/10 best reflects my thoughts on The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations.
