- Mister Arn14 de maio de 2025"The Andromeda Strain" is one of those rare films that truly does justice to the book it’s based on. Its pacing and attention to detail bring the novel vividly to life, just as I remembered it. While it might seem a bit dated now, its story still delivers a powerful impact.
- elonleikkaajahá 7 diasMovie has a great and promising first half, but I think the final act falls flat. The ideas the film draws from Michael Crichton's book are truly fascinating, and the story is thrilling!
- Michael Surber16 de maio de 2025One of the greatest sci-fi films of all time. Dosed with so much scientific possibility that everyone wondered just how much was real and how much was imagination. Still holds up decades later. I'll watch it any time it pops up on my screen.

- flavo4329 de novembro de 2025The Andromeda Strain is one of the most influential technothrillers ever put to screen, translating Michael Crichton’s groundbreaking novel into a tense, procedural, and surprisingly realistic sci-fi mystery. The film opens with the eerie discovery of a devastated town in Piedmont, New Mexico, after the return of a satellite carrying something far deadlier than anyone expected. What follows is a meticulous and immersive investigation as a team of scientists races to understand—and contain—the extraterrestrial pathogen responsible. What makes the film so effective is its commitment to scientific plausibility. The underground Wildfire laboratory, the sterile procedural sequences, and the slow, methodical unraveling of the organism’s properties all feel unnervingly authentic. The innovative split-screen visuals and clinical atmosphere push the film beyond standard genre fare, making it feel decades ahead of its time. The Andromeda Strain helped define the technothriller genre and remains a gripping, intelligent exploration of science under pressure.
- Richard19 de outubro de 2025Saw this one on Dutch TV in the mid ’80s, back when serious sci-fi still got prime slots. I was old enough to follow the plot, young enough to be unnerved by the sterile labs and eerie silence. It’s a slow burn procedural wrapped in a biohazard thriller. A satellite crashes near a small town, everyone dies mysteriously and a team of top scientists is rushed to a secret underground lab to figure out what went wrong. No aliens with tentacles, no laser battles, just microscopes, decontamination chambers and the creeping dread of a microscopic killer. Robert Wise directs with clinical precision and the cast, Arthur Hill, David Wayne, Kate Reid plays it straight, which makes the tension simmer. The tech is vintage ’70s: blinking lights, punch cards and a computer named “Piedmont” that looks like it runs on coffee and panic. But it works. The film respects science, and that respect makes it scarier. I loved the concept and the execution. It felt like a documentary gone wrong and the realism made it linger.
- Lorenzo Verde12 de maio de 2025Sourced from the Michael Crichton sci-fi novel of the same name, this rendition is quite loyal, but proves a critical point to me: when the villain is a microscopic virus, it's hard to visualize the impending doom.
- One Bit Wonder15 de março de 2025A great old movie showcasing a government coverup. Well done
