Cantar!

- Manuel Frangis20 de março de 2025I just watched Sing again and I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. It is a fun and entertaining animated movie with great music and a solid mix of humor and heart. While it does not do anything groundbreaking it delivers a lighthearted and enjoyable experience that is easy to watch. The story follows Buster Moon a struggling theater owner who comes up with a singing competition to save his business. This brings together a group of talented but unlikely performers each with their own personal struggles and dreams. The setup is simple but works well because of the variety of characters and the way their stories come together. One of the best things about Sing is the animation which is bright colorful and full of energy. The characters are expressive the performances are exciting and the world feels alive. Every musical number is visually impressive making the songs feel bigger and more exciting than just a simple competition. The voice cast is stacked with talent. Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon brings a lot of charm to the role making him a likable and optimistic lead even when his plans do not always go smoothly. Taron Egerton as Johnny the gorilla Scarlett Johansson as Ash the porcupine Reese Witherspoon as Rosita the pig and Seth MacFarlane as Mike the mouse all bring strong performances that make their characters stand out. Each one has their own journey and struggles which adds some nice emotional moments to the movie. The music is easily the highlight of Sing. The movie is packed with popular songs from different genres performed by the characters in unique ways. If you love animated movies with great soundtracks this one does not disappoint. The performances are fun and well done making the music feel like a key part of the story rather than just background noise. The humor is mostly lighthearted and works well for both kids and adults. There are some genuinely funny moments and the character interactions keep things fun and engaging. The movie never takes itself too seriously which makes it an easy watch. One of the things that holds Sing back from being truly great is that the story is very predictable. It follows a familiar underdog competition formula so there are not many surprises. While the characters are fun the movie does not take many risks with its plot. Everything plays out in a way that you can see coming from the start. Some characters also get more focus than others. While Buster Johnny and Rosita have well developed arcs others like Ash and Mike do not get as much attention. The movie tries to juggle a lot of characters at once which sometimes makes it feel like certain storylines are rushed or not as developed as they could be. The pacing is mostly solid but there are a few moments where the movie slows down a little too much. Some of the emotional beats could have been stronger but overall it keeps things moving at a good pace leading up to the big final performances. Overall Sing is a fun feel good movie with great music and solid animation. It may not be the most original or deep animated film but it delivers an entertaining experience that is easy to enjoy. If you love music competitions underdog stories and animated movies with humor and heart this is worth watching. I had a good time with it and while it is not one of my all time favorites it is definitely a movie I would watch again.
