- RipLinesMan8 de abril de 2025Resident Evil isn’t Event Horizon (1997), but it shares the same DNA—corporate hubris, corridors that breathe wrong, and science cracking open a door it was never meant to touch. Where Event Horizon gave us hell in orbit, Resident Evil buries it in a lab and lets it crawl out with teeth.
- Doc Wormhá 4 diasWatching this as a kid was awesome. As an adult my eyes are open to much more. Terrible script and dog shit plotting are what really hold it back. The “industrial-electronic” score consistently underwhelms too. Looking past all this, I still had fun with Resident Evil. Even though it deviates from its source material, it’s not quite as egregious as some would make it out to be. The action is consistently entertaining. Watching Mila Jovovich shoot and jump kick her way through hordes of dogs and zombies didn’t get old. There’s five more of these so we will see if that holds true. What was truly the highlight of the movie for me was the interior design. Every set has this futuristic gleem that only seemed to be captured in the early aughts and it helps pull together some great set pieces through out. Regardless of what can be said, good or bad about this movie, no one can deny how iconic that laser hallway was.
- makdelart24 de março de 2026I’m not familiar with the video game on which the film is based, so I didn’t watch it through the lens of a gamer’s nostalgia. The film is very average, the computer-generated effects are poor, and the whole thing wouldn’t be worth watching were it not for Milla Jovovich. To be honest, I expected as much, and I intend to watch the whole series just for her (though I’m not sure if I’ll manage it).
- Hakihiko30 de setembro de 2025Entertaining, but Not Quite Infectious "Resident Evil" is a film that captures some of the creepy atmosphere and adrenaline-fueled action you'd expect from a video game adaptation, but it doesn't always live up to its potential. On the positive side, it nails the dark, claustrophobic tone of a survival-horror setting, with its underground labs, eerie hallways, and a sense of constant threat. The soundtrack adds energy and keeps the tension high, while the action scenes - though a bit over-the-top at times - are fun and give the movie a strong pulse. The casting works fairly well, with Milla Jovovich carrying the movie and giving it a strong central presence. The visuals, for the early 2000s, are quite stylish, blending industrial grit with sci-fi aesthetics that feel in tune with the franchise. Where "Resident Evil" falters is in its storytelling. The plot is thin and leans on clichés, with dialogue that can feel clunky and characters who don't get much development. It's entertaining, but more on a surface level - once the action slows, the weaknesses show. Overall, "Resident Evil" is a decent watch if you're in the mood for some dark action-horror, but it lands closer to a 6.5 than a solid 7. It has style and moments of fun, yet it leaves you wishing it had gone deeper with its characters and story.
- mrbeefybites11 de abril de 2026Resident Evil is definitely a product of it's time. I remember enjoying it when it came out, but not overly wowed by it. After rewatching it recently, I feel much the same way. It was fun and action packed. So, if you want more action and less of a horror film, then this will be up your alley. While not being wowed, I still am interested enough to continue watching the rest of the franchise. I feel like this movie aged, just okay. Not terrible, not well.
- Oʂɯαʅԃσ Rσყҽƚƚ12 de fevereiro de 2026As a big fan of splatter and horror films i was gladly surprised when i watched this. I haven't played the game so i had no idea what to expect and had nothing to compare with. I really feel that this pays homage to the old zombie films at least to an extent. The zombies here are a little bit faster though.
- George24 de junho de 2026I’ve decided to rewatch the RE movies for the first time as an adult. I only ever watched the first three as a kid and never finished the series. Resident evil is one of my most beloved franchises of all time. That being said, this was a really solid start to the movie series. Even though it didn’t follow the games at all, I enjoyed seeing the Resident Evil world from a different point of view. It had a good mix of horror, action, and suspense, and it did a great job setting the stage for more, which we obviously got as there’s 6 of them total. Onto the next!
- Niztradamus26 de março de 2026I didn't remember Milla Jovovich being such a babe from whe this movie came out but I remember hating it as a fan of the games. 24 years later and I still wish they didn't come up with non canon lore but I have to say, the movie on it's own is actually pretty dope. Yes, the CGI aged like fine milk in the Somali desert but the action is fun, Umbrella does what Umbrella does and Alice would have been a fine fit for the games as well. Especially the AI is pretty darn close to what we are creating right now.
- Jake27 de agosto de 2025Milla Jovovich & Michelle Rodriguez nuff said! Well also the zombies are cool and the plots fun. As a lover of the series since N64, don't let gamerZ opinions on source material/plot steer you away from a fun, not so spooky but thrilling adaptation. Not everyone is Leon Kennedy and that's OK!
- tellum19 de agosto de 2025Easily the best of the franchise, there is a lot of cheesiness but it is balanced with scenes of great spooky atmosphere and tension building. The rest of the movies abandon those concepts in favor of more silliness and try hard action, but this is a genuinely good horror movie.
