- Spanktacular29 de janeiro de 2026Confession - It's my first time seeing it, and I didn't know the music was originally from this film. I just remembered it from Busta Rhymes' "Gimme Some More". Go give that a listen.
- รҡ૨אρƭเ∂2 de março de 20252 things I learned about sexuality this film. First, I always thought Jamie Lee Curtis was an awkward woman because she had more body than her face or personality knew what to do with. Then I learned that Janet Leigh is her mother and suddenly it made sense. Also not known for her smile, her body in this movie proves she does not need one. Second, I never knew anything about Anthony Perkins but the instance I saw him run up those stairs I knew he was gay and wanted the world to know it. Now, this film was nothing like you might think it would be like if you weren't from that era. I think many people might hear this movie and think "horror" film and it just not that at all. However it's contributions to the thriller world are significant and that's what I will take note of in my review. All this great and interesting Hollywood history going on in this film is great but the type of eerie suspense setup by this film is also historical in it's own right. The suspenseful music track with the violins repeated in the first half of the film is great and yet recognizable. Then it hit me. Rapper Busta Rhymes used this in his best known single "Gimme Some More" which I found to be awesome. Many older films with high ratings such as this film are given them largely based on their historical contribution to the art. In other words if you weren't experiencing the film at the time of it's release, the moments of cutting edge innovation will be lost to you. This was true for another one of Hitchcock's films for me "North By Northwest." And so a film receives points in ratings not solely based on it's entertainment value, but value for it's contributions in breaking ground. But for me, "Psycho" is as entertaining as it is groundbreaking. That entertainment was from it's ability to produce and maintain a "feeling" and I think that entertainment value appreciated by myself, was the same "it" factor that the rest of the world saw in this film all those years ago. Bravo Mr. Hitchcock. 9/10 Respectfully.

- kenngineer30 de novembro de 2025From the buildup to the end, it was almost as masterful as it is nerve-wracking and mysterious. I never expected that ending and I have loved it. It also gave me closure at the conclusion which added more depth to the antagonist's character making a better insight to what was going on in Norman's mind. This movie has its own Thriller favor and is one of my favorites as well.
- Paul Kalkhof22 de outubro de 2025Psycho is a classic and influential film, with a story that follows different characters. While dated, it still holds a lot of power in a tightly crafted story that unfolds. While the psychology is outdated, Anthony Perkins chilling performance is timeless as Norman Bates, photographed beautifully.
- James Saenz16 de outubro de 2025“people never really run away from anything. the rain didn't last long, did it? you know what i think? i think that we're all in our private traps, clamped in them, and none of us can ever get out. we scratch and we claw, but only at the air, only at each other; and for all of it, we never budge an inch.” “sometimes we deliberately step into those traps.” “i was born in mine. i don't mind it anymore.” “oh, but you should. you should mind it.” “oh, i do. but i say i don’t.” can’t believe it’s taken me this long to finally see psycho. it’s been in my periphery my whole life; i watched bates motel as it aired, my introduction to slashers was carpenter’s halloween, and there’s this one song on a tumblr post that seems to be lost to the annals of internet history that had marion and norman’s dinner conversation as an intro. i essentially have always known all of the twists and seen in clips the most iconic moments of this picture, so i never made an effort to watch it. but man, what a blast. choosing to focus the first half of the film so devotedly on a character’s life and motivations, only for her to be killed off as the narrative shifts, was so ingenuous in the 60s and still is to this day. over the decades, the slasher genre that this picture influenced has been inundated with entries that seldom achieve what hitchcock does here. the deaths can - when removed from the context of the film or the time period - seem tame or borderline silly, but the craftsmanship of each scene really forces the viewer to feel the tension and eeriness of the film. just an absolute masterclass of a movie.
- M08Y6 de outubro de 2025Aged like the finest of wine. Psycho is yet another one of those films that I managed to go 26 years without watching. Now that I have finally got around to it, I can see just how many other things were inspired by Psycho. The cinematography is honestly beautiful. It really does feel like a film, I appreicate that probably sounds silly but It's true. The story is very simple by todays standards but I imagine it was a lot more impactful at the time. As mentioned previously, Psycho looks amazing and the 4K bluray is no exception. Psycho might be the best black and white 4k I've ever seen. The audio is.... a product of it's time that has held up pretty well.
