- Garrett Wilkins6 de agosto de 2026I procrastinated watching Parasite for years because I wondered if a film surrounded by this much praise could possibly live up to it. It did. Bong Joon Ho takes a premise that sounds deceptively simple and turns it into one of the most tightly constructed films I've ever seen, constantly shifting tone without ever feeling like it's losing control of itself. Every scene lays another brick in the foundation, rewarding your attention in ways that only become obvious later. Song Kang-ho is phenomenal, but what impressed me just as much was how well every member of the ensemble understood their place within Bong's larger design. Nobody feels wasted, and nobody exists simply to move the plot forward. The remarkable thing about Parasite is how effortlessly it entertains while refusing to stay confined to a single genre. It's funny until it isn't, suspenseful without relying on cheap tricks, and socially observant without stopping to lecture. I kept waiting for the film to overplay its hand because so many others would have, but Bong Joon Ho always seemed one step ahead of my expectations. By the end, I understood not only why Parasite became such a phenomenon, but why it meant so much for NEON. It's the kind of film that reminds you what great cinema is capable of when every moving part is working at its highest level.
