- cultfilmliker27 de abril de 2026“Let’s commit lots of sins!” While I enjoyed the film, I couldn’t help but constantly think that this review should be repurposed for this film Hey, Geese made a song about this! (also the Yeah Yeah Yeahs…) SACRILEGE (lol jk who cares) Japanese A Clockwork Orange It’s like if Stephen Chow was rated R raunchy Reminds me of Battle Royale in way more than just a racist way (possibly just the music and exercises tho. And the acting and ruthlessness) Yuji crying killed me. And Senpai is too handsome For how organized the cult is, it sure took them a long time to stop the Scientology speed run 4 hours long but the runtime flies by! (As I typed that the most boring part happened but luckily it didn’t last too long) However, I don’t necessarily think that just stacking plot points makes a film better. Cool genre bending tho! We all are in a cult at one point or another! Hesitantly added to The Non-English Niche
- Hakihiko2 de fevereiro de 2026Wild, Unhinged, and Absolutely Brilliant "Love Exposure" is one of those rare films that fully commits to its madness and somehow turns it into something extraordinary. It’s bold, excessive, provocative, and incredibly smart. A true cinematic experience that refuses to play by any conventional rules. This is a niche film from a Western perspective. Packed with Japanese humor, cultural references, and social satire, it can easily feel absurd or overwhelming if you’re unfamiliar with the context. Having lived in Japan, I could fully connect with what the film is doing, and for me, it was an absolute blast. What might look like pure insanity on the surface is actually sharp commentary on Japanese society, religion, cult dynamics, repression, and obsession, all pushed to their extreme. The film effortlessly blends genres: comedy, romance, coming-of-age drama, social satire, and pure madness coexist without ever canceling each other out. Even the most outrageous elements — including the infamous “panty pervert” theme, which is exaggerated but rooted in real societal issues — are used with intention and meaning rather than cheap shock value. Despite its considerable runtime, the movie never feels boring or exhausting. The pacing is surprisingly effective, constantly reinventing itself and keeping the energy high. There wasn’t a single moment where it dragged or lost my attention. "Love Exposure" is not a film for everyone, but if watched with the right mindset and cultural key, it reveals itself as a true gem. Fearless, chaotic, hilarious, and deeply thoughtful, it’s one of those movies that stays with you long after it ends.
