The couturier Pommier, a caricature of Poiret, then at the end of his career, is on the verge of bankruptcy. A wealthy industrialist could save the company. To convince him to buy a large number of dresses, Pommier asks one of his apprentices to play the role of a society woman interested in the master's creations. The industrialist returns a few days later but makes it a condition of placing a large order that he must see the society woman with whom he is madly in love.
