I was still in grade school when it came out, and though the movie doesn't take it seriously, or maybe it was only where I grew up, but there was some taboo around the behavior and way of dancing this film mildly portrays, which I guess made kids love it even more. Almost 50 years later, I come back to it and boy, does it bring it all back! Solid five stars!
- Chrispix23 de dezembro de 2025It's a fun musical from the 70s. All the actors look like 30 year olds pretending to be high school seniors, which is kind of creepy, but whatever. The biggest issue with this movie is what Olivia Newton John sees in John Travolta? He's a doochebag of the highest order, and she's a nice, sweet girl from Australia. He didn't even fight for her to dance with him during that American Dance Party show, instead he just let that ugly ho Cha Cha bump her and kept on going like Olivia didn't exist. He doesn't deserve her, and he's just gonna cheat on her if they stay together, so she may as well move on and find a guy who appreciates her. Maybe she can date one of those Scorpion boys, they seem well adjusted, and they have their own cars!
- Michael Surber29 de abril de 2025This is one of my wife's favorite movies so I've got to like it no matter what. That said, you kind of get what you expect to get here. Travolta and Newton-John make this film an above average classic. Adapted from a long running theater show, it could have failed miserably but instead, we've got a legendary soundtrack and iconic characters. Who knew?
- leeartlee15 de dezembro de 2025I think it’s hard with some of these musicals. For me, I find a lot of songs very skip worthy. I actually do enjoy the “book” of the musical. Can be funny or even have a worth while message. There are around 3 stand out tracks (plus the additional “Grease is the word” made for the movie). Anyways, it’s worth viewing at least once I would say. And if you like musicals at all, you’ll probably enjoy it.
- CravanThePugilist6 de novembro de 2025Even as a child, I always found the resolution to Sandy's character arc pretty wack, & that final scene is random as hell, but... Grease might be the most sheer fun I have watching a musical. The only challenger in my books is Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph. I'd say I've seen Grease minimum 20 times, & before I desert this mortal coil, pretty damn sure I'ma fit in minimum 20 more. Selah.
