Flash William
Dirigido por John Laing, John Laing19 minShort, Documentário
Sixty-five year old filmmaker William Shewchuck - nicknamed "Flash" - has lived most of his life in the movie making mecca of Cadomin, Alberta, population 100, located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. "Dawson City Joe" is his third feature length film in twenty-five years. He has acted as the Joe-of-all-trades behind the camera, and one of only a handful of actors in front of the camera for all three films. Upon "Dawson City Joe"'s completion, he has shown it in several small towns to try and recoup his costs, the most recent being Cadomin itself where over 85% of the population showed up. But he was never satisfied with the end product. So five years after principle filming was completed, he is filming the final sequences using a replacement actress for one long gone from Cadomin. This documentary tells of Flash's life, how he ended up in the mining town of Cadomin, how he got into filmmaking, the trials and tribulations of making "Dawson City Joe", and how improvements in technology over the lengthy time period of making the movie made him often change course through the production.
