Após reunir as sete bolas de cristal, Garlic Jr. obtém o poder da imortalidade e rapta Son Gohan, o filho de Son Goku. As intenções de Garlic Jr. são malvadas: vingar a morte do seu pai e dar de novo vida às forças do mal. Mas Son Goku, com ajuda de Krillin, vai ao encontro de Garlic para o destruir e salvar Son Gohan. Para se defender, Garlic cria um buraco negro, uma espécie de passagem no tempo, na qual aquele que lá entra jamais voltará. Son Goku terá de enfrentar uma luta arriscada contra Garlic Jr. Será que o conseguirá eliminar e devolver a paz ao mundo?

Tying Garlic Jr. to Kami’s past makes sense and could have worked really well, but the movie’s short runtime and rushed execution hold it back. The fights are quick, the henchmen add nothing, Krillin gets taken out by a falling building, and even Garlic Jr. finding the Dragon Balls feels too easy with no explanation of mystical methods like Baba’s that could have made it believable. They did at least show a glimpse of Gohan’s power, which was a great moment even though it was brief. The idea behind the story is strong, but the movie never gives itself enough time to let anything really land.🐲🐉

Where Krillin some how knows who Gohan is, even though they have never met (They don't meet until the Saiyan Arc which comes after this movie and this movie comes right after Dragon Ball finishes). But was it any good? Yeah, it was decent. The music is pretty good, the animation looks good for a 1989 movie and the voice acting is overall pretty good. The silly nature of this movie was great. Seeing Gohan bite into the tree's fruit and become drunk is just as unhinged as I wanted. This movie is definitely something! All the character names are hilarous puns and fit right in with the style of movie that this is. The fight scenes were... subpar though. This is not a movie you watch for action, but for the humor and just to turn off your brain. It's a shame we never see Garlic Jr in another movie, because it would be interesting to see how he held up in his own Deaad Zone after an eternity. Overall, this movie is just good. It's not great, it's not bad, it's just good. It's a starting movie for a series that just becomes bigger and and better. Definitely reccomend this for people who are fans of Dragon Ball (Z/Super/DAIMA).
