- ayayron19 de abril de 2025Those who say Die Hard isn't an xmas movie prob also have a problem with pineapple on pizza
- jackmeat26 de dezembro de 2024My quick rating - 8.8/10. One of the greatest action movies of all time and also happens to be a Xmas classic, even if Bruce Willis won't admit it (see this link from The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis). Again, I am not going to go too far into this since entire books have been written on the subject. The late Alan Rickman turns in the performance of a career as the thief Hans Gruber in a very straightforward heist that goes anything but simple. The action is non-stop, the humor is perfectly timed, and John McClane just keeps coming back. Needs to be in the rotation of any action movie fan on Christmas Eve for sure. 'Nuff said.

- Tubeman725 de janeiro de 2026It is 1988 and director John McTierman surprises friend and foe with the film 'Die Hard'. A true blockbuster was born and many action films would imitate the structure of this masterpiece - not to mention 'Die Harder', 'Die Hard with a Vengeance' and 'Die Hard 4'. The role of action hero and leading actor John McClane is filled by Bruce Willis, who made his definitive breakthrough in Hollywood. As brilliant as Willis is as the police officer who doesn't like authorities and suddenly finds himself in the middle of a hostage drama, Willis was not the first choice. Not even the second; he only got the role after Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Burt Reynolds and Richard Gere had tried. Nevertheless, he seems quite at home and this is one of his best performances of all time. Yet he cannot prevent being outplayed at times by hostage taker and enemy Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman). It is not without reason that Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber is always mentioned in every top-so much about the best (read: worst) Movie Villains. Hans Gruber belongs to a completely different caliber than the bad guys up to that point. He is not only downright evil, but also super intelligent; he constantly manages to surprise McClane by being just one step ahead of him and cannot be fooled. Bonnie Bedelia as Holly Genero McClane, as a hostage almost ex-wife of McClane, manages to hold her own among her male co-stars. She is also not a stereotypical woman who needs to be saved, but she knows how to fight back. All these performances added together mean that 'Die Hard' does not consist of the standard action roles and that makes the film just that little bit better than many of its predecessors and successors. Some fun facts about the making of 'Die Hard'; Rickman has a habit of blinking uncontrollably when firing a weapon. This left McTierman with no other option than to cut the film exactly after shots occurred. However, you can still see Rickman blink as he shoots Takagi. Rickman was also released in the fall scene by the stuntman on the second instead of the third count, to get the most believable overwhelmed reaction possible. Furthermore, many choices for certain scenes and dialogues have been changed or invented on the spot. This also applies to the meeting scene between Hans Gruber and John McClane. This was devised after the director discovered that Rickman was a star at imitating the American accent. To give the scene even more spontaneity, it had not been rehearsed in advance. In addition to good actors, an exciting story and entertaining action scenes, 'Die Hard' is also full of sharp dialogues and memorable one-liners. In short, 'Die Hard' is still one of the top action films decades later. “Yippee-ki-yay.”
- James Whitbread9 de dezembro de 2025Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman at their best! Also yes it is a Christmas movie
- Jakeys30 de dezembro de 2025A Christmas classic. One of the best "one ill equipped guy stuck in a situation fights his way out" movies there is.
- wonderrxjr25 de dezembro de 2025This is truly the best Christmas movie. Nothing screams Christmas more than John McClane doing all kinds of batshit crazy stunts to save his wife who was probably gonna leave him
- VooDue25 de dezembro de 2025One of THE best Christmas movies!
- Cubane7 de dezembro de 2025It's not just a Christmas movie, it's THE Christmas movie. No better way to start the holiday season than to watch Hans Gruber fall out a window!
