- Richard21 de abril de 2026I first saw Darkman on a VHS rental, one of those tapes you pick up without knowing exactly what you’re getting into and then realize halfway through that you’ve stumbled onto something wild. Sam Raimi mixes superhero pulp, horror, and his trademark chaotic energy into a film that feels like it’s constantly teetering between tragedy and comicbook madness. Liam Neeson goes all in as Peyton Westlake, a scientist turned disfigured vigilante who can mimic anyone’s face for 99 minutes at a time. It’s a ridiculous premise, but the movie treats it with just enough sincerity to make it work. W hile Raimi fills the rest with exaggerated villains, twisted humor and those unmistakable kinetic camera moves. It’s rough around the edges, loud and sometimes completely unhinged, exactly the kind of movie that sticks with you because you didn’t expect it to hit as hard as it does. Darkman feels like a VHS discovery in the best way: strange, bold and impossible to forget once you’ve seen it.
- Johann18 de agosto de 2026What? This is the weirdest, most unexpected movie I've watched in a long time. I enjoyed it. I want to talk to someone about it. I love how Smiley holds shoots his machine gun like a lunatic. And Turner's weird thing with decapitated fingers and that his weapon of choice is a grenade launcher that he sometimes fires out of helicopters. I laughed when Peyton mumbled "clever" to himself after figuring out that he could mirror the right side of his face. This is the dumbest genius scientist ever. The "science tech" is awesome. But what a waste. My experience was like watching an even more depraved Robocop movie. This movie is going for a certain vibe and it succeeded hard.
- tokethaninja17 de dezembro de 2025the perfect film. unpredictable, shocking, subversive. great score. great acting. amazing shots. impressive use of cgi and greenscreen for its budget, era and genre. amazing practical effects and props. doesnt take itself too seriously, which makes the parts one would normally find hamfisted or corny into something more fun and interesting. again, it is the perfect film.
- ehrlic819 de janeiro de 2026An avant garde grind house oxymoron of a superhero flick, a studio film with a b movie vibe, captures the essence of desire and twists the traditional power fantasy to a bloody pulp. Raimi aptly decided to forgo the two previous entries into the genre and relied much more heavily on the superheros pulp tradition, creating a flawed yet endearing and timeless piece of enlightened trash.
